HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-01-1979 Special Meeting118 STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN X We, the undersigned members of the Fairhope City Council, do hereby waive notice of a special called meeting to be held 1 November 1979 at 5:30 pm, City Administrative Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama, for the purpose of acting on the following: 1. Corps of Engineers Resolution - Demolition and Removal of Buildings, Public and Private• 2. Authorize Mayor to sign Contract Agreement between Airport Board and City Electric, Inc., on Storm damage work 3. An appointment and a re -appointment on the Planning and Zoning Board 4. Hear Mr. Bob Pope's Municipal Pier proposal Councilmember Counci member 119 The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at 5:30 p.m., City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama. 36532, on Thursday, 1 November 1979. The purpose of this meeting was to pass a Resolution requesting the Corps of Engineers to demolish and remove damaged buildings, public and private; to authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement between the Air- port Board and City Electric, Inc., on storm repairs; to r.�ake an appoint- ment and a re -appointment to the Planning & Zoning Board; and to discuss Mr. Bob Pope's proposals on the Ttmicipal Pier. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers C.O. McCawley, Sam E. Box, Sr., Trisha Nelson, and Jack A. Stipes; City Attorney John Duck and City Clergy; Evelyn Phillips. Councilman Ed Bishop was out of towm. Councilman Box introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the follow- ing Resolution. Seconded by Councilman Stipes, motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTION 1,11EREAS, on the 13th day of September, 1979, the President declared a "major disaster" in the State of Alabama under the provi- sions of Public Law 288, 93rd Congress, as amended, and UiEREAS, the City of Fairhope is a public entity within said State; Naq T11EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL of the City of Fairhope that the U.S. Corps of Engineers be requested to perform the following work: Demolition and Removal of Buildings: public and private ADOPTED this the 1st day of November, 1979. Attest: G City Clqk Councilman McCawley moved to authorize the Thyor to execute the agreement between the Airport Board and City Electric, Inc., on repairs at the Airport. (Storm Damage). Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Box moved to make the following appointments to the Planning and Zoning Board: John Parker Re -appointed to May 1985 Roy tilhite Appointed to May, 1983 (Nov. 1'79) 120 Seconded by Councilwom n Nelson, motion passed unanimously. A discussion session on the Municipal Pier renovations proposed by Leasee Bob Pope resulted in the decision to delay any action until Leasing Procedures required by the State Department of Conservation can be more fully studied by City Attorney Duck. TIm members of the Harbor Board, Mr. Otis Williamson and Mr. George McKee were also present for the discussion. Meeting ira.s duly adjourned. ity PLerk
