COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met in a speciz
called session on Saturday, March 18, 1978, at 10:00 a.m., at thf
City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope,
Alabama with the following members present: Mayor James P. Nix;
Councilmen: Henry G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, Jack A. Stipes and
Billy Don Wiggins. Members absent: Councilman David E. Bishop.
The purpose of the special called meeting was to accept the low
bid on the water line extension on U.S. 98 south and to award
the bid on the utility building, and the purchase of a new radio
City Engineer Ack Moore said that the low bid on the water line
extension on U.S. 98 south was by W.R. Mitchell, the bid being
$ 146,531.54 less deletions for a revised bid total of $ 128,445
Councilmen made reference to meeting with members of the Twin
Bay Water System and felt that they should hold off on the award-
ing of the bid until the next Council meeting in order to see if
the City can work up an agreement with the Twin Bay Water System
regarding the extending of the water lines on U.S. 98.
Mr. Thad Ingram presented a report with bid tabulations, along
with a bill from Moore Engineering of five percent (5%) of the
amended figure in the amount of $ 6,422.28.
Councilman Sam E. Box moved, seconded by Councilman Jack A.Stipe:
for the City to lay over the awarding of the bids on the water
line extension project until the March 27th, 1978 meeting of
the City Council at which time the Council will either accept
or reject the bids. Motion carried.
The low bid on the utility building was Ogden Construction
Company -as per the recommendation of City Superintendent Phil
Rutherford.
Councilman Jack A. Stipes moved, seconded by Councilman Sam E.
Box for the City to purchase a 50 x 150 utility building from
Ogden Construction Company with adobe beige color. Motion
carried.
City Superintendent Phil Rutherford said that he had received
a price of $ 1,650.00 from Audio Visual and Electronic Services
on the purchase of a new radio, and said that this price was
below the bid limit and that if the City went out on bid the
price would be higher. Rutherford said that it is his and
Mr. Louis Kirby's recommendation that the City purchase the
radio from Audio Visual and Electronic Services.
Councilman Sam E. Box moved, seconded by Councilman Billy Don
Wiggins, to the rescind the motion made at the regular meeting
of March 13, 1978 to go out on bid for a new radio for the
supply building and to purchase the radio from Audio Visual and
Electronics for $ 1,650.00. Motion carried.
There being no further business on a motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
