COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday,
September 8, 1975 at 7:00'P.M. with the following members present
Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop,
Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Harney L. Shull.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Petition to the City for vacation of portions of certain streets
and avenues lying in Green Subdivision was presented and on motion
by;,Counoilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman Sam Box the
following Resolution was adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas E; Dyer, Sr., and others, presented their
Petition to the City z Council seeking permission to vacate portion:
of the following streets and avenues in Green Subdivision, as
per plat thereof recorded in Deed Book Y, page 704, in the office
of the Probate Judge of Baldwin County, Alabama, and by their
Petition, they show that they are the owners of all the land
abutting on the streets and avenues they seek to have vacated.
Upon consideration of the same, the City Council of the City of
Fairhope has no objection to the relief sought by the Petitioners,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the
City of Fairhope as follows:
The City Council of the City of Fairhope does now assent
to the vacation of those portions of the following streets and
avenues lying in the City of Fairhope, Baldwin County, Alabama,
described as follows:
That part of Blue Island Avenue lying between Bay Street
and Mobile Street.
That Part of Lincoln Avenue lying between Bay Street and
Mobile Street.
That part of Magnolia Avenue lying between Bay Street
and Mobile Street.
That part of'Lee Avenue lying between Hoyle Street and
Mobile Street.
That part of _Maple Avenue lying between Hoyle Street
and Mobile Street.
That part of Bay Street lying between Lee Avenue and
Wheeler Avenue.
That a certified copy of this Resolution be furnished the said
Petitioners to be filed with the Declaration of Vacation as is
provided for by Title 56, Section 32, of the Code of Alabama..
The above and foregoing Resolution was approved and adopt-
ed by the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, on this
the 8th day of September, 1975-

The request of Olympia Corte Dvas to deannex her property of
approximately 50 acres which is` bordered on the north by the
north corporate limits of the City of Fairhope, on the south
by Alabama State Hifhway 104, on the east by 4-lane US 98 and
on the west by Baldwin County Highway 11, from the City J,imlts
of Fairhope was brought. up for discussion. Motion by Council-
man H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the request
be denied. Upon being put to vote the following vote was record-
ed: Voting For: Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam
E. Box and 011ie E. Deese, Voting Against: Councilman Barney L.
Shull. Motion carried.
Mayor Nix reported that the City of-Fairhope has received an
award from the Alabama Water Improvement Commission for the best
operated system of any City under 10,000 population in the State.
Drainage problem on White Avenue was held for next regular
meeting of the Council.
Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman David Bishop
that the bills be approved for payment as presented.. Motion
carried.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
