HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-1975 Regular Meetingi STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, on Monday, March 24, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese*, Councilman Barney Shull being absent.' Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Mr. Milton Maisel of Prudential Lifd Insurance Company met with the Council and introduced a proposal for the the City of Fair - hope Insurance. Councilman Ed Bishop and 011ie Deese were appointed to check into the matter and give a report on their findings at the next meeting. Request of Mrs. Mary Mills for Beer and Liquor License for Julwin's Restaurant was discussed. Motion was made by Councilman H. G. Bishop and seconded by Councilman Sam Box that this request be granted. Motion carried. Mayor Nix introduced a plan to include fifty cents (.5W on each utility bill but not included in the total of the bill to go toward the purchase of fireworks for the Fourth of July Celebration. After some discussion the proposal was denied. Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman David E. Bishop that Ordinance No, 549, An Ordinance Annexing Property Known As Wylie Property, be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of March 10, 1975• Motion carried. The Performance Bond of Mr. Robert Nahrgang was presented. Councilman David E. Bishop moved, seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop, that Bond be accepted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the City pursue the matter of Liability Insurance on actions of our Police Officers. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the City officially accept study made by the Planning and Zoning Board and to commend them for an excellent job. Motion carried. Mr. Ack Moore, Engineer, made a recommendation to purchase two fourteen inch (1411) valves for sewer plant. Councilman Sam Box was asked to study recommendation and report to Council. The Water Department is to remove the old pump works and light pole behind the Police Station in the First National Bank's lot as instructed by the Health Department, Councilman David E. Bishop introduced the following Ordinance: ORDINANCE NO. S50 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13, DISTRICT BOUNDARIES OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 295 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, that the following described property be and the same Is hereby zoned R-3 as shown on Map attached to Petition of Annexation: From the Southwest corner of Fractional Section 19, Township 6 South, Range 2 East, Baldwin County, Alabama., run East 409.1 feet; thence run North 3497.6 feet to the Point of Beginning, said point being on the East Right- of-way line of U. S. Highway 98 and being the Northwest corner of a lot now owned or formerly owned by Perry Lowrey; thence run South 66052' East, 272.8 feet to an Oak Tree; thence run North 170201 East, 102.8 feet to an iron pipe; thence run North 19014' East, 279.4 feet to a con- crete block; thence run North 770 00' West 74 feet; thence run North 4? 00' East 84 feet; thence run South 86030' Fast, 123.5 feet to an iron axle; thence run North 170 00' East, 62.5 feet; thence run North 73930' West, 404 feet to the East right-of-way of U. S. Highway #98, thence following said east right-of-way, run as follows: South 150291W9 181.7 feet; South 12031'W9 233.5 feet; South 070 12'W9 195.65 feet to the Point of Beginning. THIS ORDINANCE shall take effect immedYately upon its due adoption and publication as required by aw.
