HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-24-1975 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday, February 24, 1975 with the following members present: Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the City make application to L. E. P. A. for $1,000.00 for Portable Burglar Alarms and contribute $50.00 as matching funds for the project. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney L. Shull that the City lease property at switching station off Young Street to A. Reed. Motion carried. This,being date set for opening bids on resurfacing Nichols Street from Greeno West approximately 1440 feet, the following bids were received: Radcliff Materials, Inc. $39584.00 Valta Construction Co. 3,296.00 Motion by Councilman Deese seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the City accept low bid of Valta Construction Company in the amount of $3,296.00, work to be paid from Gasoline Tax Funds. Motion carried. This being date set for opening bids on approximately 330 sq. ft* of floor space to be tiled with ceramic tile, (" basin and floor elevated to drain, at the Municipal Pier, the following bids were received: Bertagnolli -,Tile Co. $19 087.00 Pierce Tile & Marble 19135.00 Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney Shull that City accept low bid of Bertagnolli Tile Company. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Council- men: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam Box and Barney L. Shull. Against: None. Councilman 011ie E. Deese abstained from voting. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney L. Shull that the Mayor be authorized to investigate the possibility of consolidating the City's General Obligation debt to be paid over a i5 year period with maximum interest rate of 6*%. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Shull that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Approved: , Attest: City Clerk ADDENDUM TO AGREEMENT STATE OF ALABAMA BALDWIN COUNTY WHEREAS, the CITY OF FAIRHOPE, a municipal corporation, and FAIRHOPE SINGLE TAX CORPORATION, a corporation, did enter into an agreement dated the 16th day of June, 1972 whereby the Parties herein were to do certain things as to the furnishing of labor, material, etc. to build a concrete curb and gutter and a concrete sidewalk on the North side of Morphy Avenue, and WHEREAS, the Parties herein do wish to modify the said agreement as follows: NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the covenants and agree- ments hereinafter contained, the Parties herein do hereby agree as follows: 1. That FAIRHOPE SINGLE TAX CORPORATION hereby agrees, in addition to paying the actual cost of materials to be used under the original agreement, to pay for the asphalt and equipment rental to be used in connecting the present existing street to the side -walk now being laid; said cost to be at cost to City prices, 2. That FAIRHOPE SINGLE TAX CORPORATION hereby agrees to pay the engineering fees and that C. W. ARNOLD.shall be the engineer in con- struction of the said work; and said work shall meet the specifications of said engineer, 3. That the CITY OF FAIRHOPE, a municipal corporation, hereby agrees that this shall be a part and parcel of the original cost of re -surfacing Morphy Avenue, and that FAIRHOPE SINGLE TAX CORPORATION will not be assessed any further costs other than the original agreement and this Addendum thereto, IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Parties herein have caused these presents to be executed by its duly authorized representatives, in duplicate, on this the date and year first above written.
