COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday
February 10, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present:
Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop,
Sam E. Box and Barney L. Shull, Councilman 011ie E. Deese being
absent.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman David Bishop
that Ordinance #548, Intoximeter Ordinance, introduced at the
meeting of January 27, 1975 be adopted as introduced. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box
that the City ask for bids on resuTaoing Nichols Street from
Greeno to Ingleside. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Bartley
Shull that the City provide office space for Faulkner State
Junior College in the City Administration Building. Motion
carried.
Request for beer permit at Briar Patch was held for additional
information.
Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Shull that
the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to negotiate for loan for
Street Improvement, to be draun as needed and not to exceed
$809000,00, Motion carried.
This being date set for opening bids on two oil switches for the
Electric Department, the following bids were received:
Hatfield and Co. No Quote
Mack Electric Supply $39109.00 ea.
Turner Supply Co. No quote
Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam
Box that City reject bid. Motion carried.
The Mayor and City Council wish to go on record expressing their
thanks to Mr. Sam Irby and the Fairhope Chamber of Commerce in
securing taxi service In the Fairhope area.
Representatives from the Jaycees requested that the Council re-
consider and make funds available for fireworks for the 4th of
July celebration. After a general discussion and suggestions as
to how the necessary funds could be raised Councilman Sam Boxx
moved, seconded by Councilman Barney Shull that the City obtain
permit for fireworks display at an early date and set up a fire-
works fund for donations from various civic clubs and the Community
as a whole. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop
that the City install ceramic the floor in the rest rooms at
the Yardarm Restaurant, cost to be paid from rent received from
the Restaurant and Marina. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman David
Bishop that the Mayor be authorized to execute lease with Mr.
Pope for the Yardarm Restaurant and Marina. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam
Box that the bills be approved for payment. Motion carried.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
