COUNTY OF BAL , IN The C� ty Council of the City of Fairhope met in unad,journed session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope, Avenge on Monday, September 30, 1974 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members presents Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. .Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull. y Mayor Nix stated that the purpose of the meeting was to hear any protest on the proposed Street Improvements and Council would take one street at a time to hear any protests. i. Bon Secour Ave. from Volanta Ave. North - Cost 12.00 per ft. Dr. Pierce Frederick and Paul Frederick owning 730 feet were opposed; no other protests were heard. Bon 4eeour Ave. from Frederick to Grand - 013.42 Ft. Dr. Pierce -Frederick and Paul Frederick owning all of the property,in question were opposed to paving at this time. Winn Lane - $9.56 per ft. No protests.. i C Blue Island Ave. $10.57 per ft. - No protests: 0 1 1 Brown Street - $8.00 per ft. No protests. r Mershon Street - U0.15 per ft. No protests. ! i Chestnut Street - $8.92 per ft. Melvin Wagner owning 435 ft: and 00 D. Dunn owning 200 ft. were opposed to paving. Burgundy Street - 4%24� ft. No protests. Laurel Street from Satsuma to 1000 West of Liberty - 49.76 Ft. The following protested the paving on Laurel Street: George lonnors - 180 ft. Wm. A. Shapard - 100 ft. Mrs. Billy Sloan - 100 ft. Mrs. Jimmie Sproels - 100 ft. John H.v Owens - 105 ft. Dyson , - 406 ft. Eldon Harrington - 90 ft. G. D: Myers - 90 ft. Wm: Richman - 230 ft. Mrs: Marie Patterson - 190 ft. The following were in favor of paving Laurel Street: Carl McKeown - 110 ft. Winston Jones - 100 ft. Mr Cadwell - 100 ft. B. I. Reynolds - 380 ft. Lolly Ht)reehney - 90 ft. Lincoln -Street - $10.15 per ft. No one present to;oppose or �n=favor ofq letter from Mr. Brister opposing. " Northrup Street - $10.15 - No protests. Jesse and Margaret Daley, Bernice Sanders and Bev. Palmer -were present and in favor of paving and requesting help with their drainage problem. Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that Bon Secour Ave. from Volanta Ave. North be included in7the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried. Motion by- Councilman Sam Box peoonded by `Councilman Barney Shull that Bon Secour Ave. from Frederick to Grand be deleted from the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried. A Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that Winn Lane be included in the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney Shull that Blue,"Island Ave. be included in the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that Brown Street, be included in the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. 'G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney Shull that Mershon Street be included in the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried:` Motion by Councilman Sam Box that Northrup Street be included In the Street Improvement program provided residents understand fully the cost anti payment of same before paving and that the Engineer eontaet�eacr property owner with an explanation. Motion seconded by Councilmen David Bishop and upon being put to vote the following vote was recordedt For: Couneilment David Bishop, Sam Box, 011ie Deese and Berney Shull, Voting Against; Councilman H.°G. Bishop. Motion oarried; i R Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that Chestnut Street be excluded from the Street Improvement Program. Mcktion carried. Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman David Bishop that Laurel Street be excluded from the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried, « i r Motion by Councilman.Sam,Box seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that Lincoln,Street be excluded from the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried, � i Mrs. Rath P.ickwell, representing the FaIrhope Single Tax Corporation, withdrew the F. S. T. C. request for paving the following streets: Lincoln, Chestnut, Blue Island, Mershon and Brown. $ Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilmen Sam -Box that Brown Street be excluded from the Street Improvement Program. Motion carried.' Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councllman°Sam Box that Mershon Street be excluded from Street Improvement Program.
