HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-26-1974 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF &kLDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday, August 26, 1974 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, and Barney L. ,Shull. Councilman 011ie E. Deese being absent. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Shull that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. Councilman H. G. Bishop presented a financial report ;of the City. Mr. Lloyd Taylor, representing the Chamber of Commerce, requested that the Council reconsider the $100.00 per month donation to the Chamber for advertising. Council reported that under present conditions the City cannot continue donations but will reconsider when the budget is prepared for the coming fiscal year. Mr. Lams met with Council pertaining to garbage charge at. the Trailer Park with no garbage pick-up. Mr. Lams was told that his garbage would be picked up provided the trucks could get to the racks. The Library Board presented their budget for the coming Fiscal year. Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Shull that the budget be taken under advisement to work into the City°s budget and that the Board be commerided for their report. motion carried. ` a Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Box that the following Resolution be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, James P. Bailey was employed by the City of Fairhope, Alabama on August 15, 1924, and WHEREAS, James P. Bailey has been a faithful and valued employee of the City for the past Fifty years; NOW, TdEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and'City Council of the City of Fairhope that James P. Bailey be commended for his long and loyal service with the City of Fairhope. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED " that a copy of this Resolution be presented to James?. Bailey, that a copy be published in the Fair - hope Courier and a copy be spread upon the minutes of the meeting of the Fairhope City Council, t ADOPTED THIS THE 26th DAY OF AU Approved Attest: City Clerk r f M1 I Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman H: G. Bishop -that the City is unable at this time to enter into tAe 201 Program, Environmental Impact'Study. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman David Bishop seconded by Councilman Shull that the City accept Blue Cross - Blue Shield rate increase. Motion carried. , Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman David Bishop that the City send two men to Water School. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull .seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop that the motion made at the regular meeting of August 12, 1974 set- ting a flat fee of $1.50 per month for -trash pick-up be rescinded. Upon being ?ut to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Council- men: Sam Box, H. G. Bishop and Barney Shull. Against: Councilman David Bishop. Motion carried. This being date set for opening bids,on four Transformers, the following bids were received: Moore -Handley $1,198.57 ea. Del. 5 months. Beck & Assooiates 1,107.00 ea. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman David Bishop that the City cease donating utilities other than City owned with the understanding that cash donation be made to schools after a study of the surrounding area Is made to determine the amount of donation. Motion died for lack of second. Motion by Councilman Sam Box that Lucassens Grocery Beer Permit be suspended for 30 days. Motion died for lack of second.-.
