HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-24-1973 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, on Monday, September 24, 1973 at 7:00 P.M. with the following member present; Councilmen: David (Ed) Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney Shull. Mayor James P. Nix being absent khyor Pro-Tem Sam Box presided at the meeting in absence of the Mayor. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Ed Bishop seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that City accept for advertising for public hearing on Oct. 229 19?3, the rezoning of Lots 10 & 11 located at 211 S. Section Stre Motion carried. Notion by Councilman Ed Bishop seconded by Councilmen Barney that the following Resolution be adopted. Notion carried. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION MAKING AN ADDENDUM TO THAT CERTAIN RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE ON THE 3rd DAY OF OCTOBER, 1972, WHICH UNDER SECTION 99,3AID"RESOLUTION TOOK EFFECT ON 1st DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1972 PERTAINING TO THE SETTING OF WATER RATES, SEWER RATES, WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fairhope did by Resolution adopted'on the 3rd day of October, 1972, did set new water and sewer rates for.the City of Fairhope, which said Resolution did take effect on the ist day of -November, 1972, and, WHEREAS, now the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fair - hope need to make an Addendum thereto as follows: SECTION 12 That there is hereby established a $2.00 per month sewer charge for all apartments, Condominiums, and house trailers per unit, wherein the central water is metered on water meter of the City of Fairhope. SECTION II: There is hereby established a $4.00 per month sewer charge for each unit, for each apartment, each Condominium, each house trailer, which said apartment, condominium and house trailer is located without the City Limits of the City of Fair - hope but is served by the sewer system of the City of Fairhope. SECTION III: There is hereby established that where a person, firm or corporation purchases a lot from a bona fide Subdividor, who has installed his own sewer lines or contracted with the City and paid the City for doing the installation therefor, there is hereby provided a $50.00 connection fee for each connection. SECTION IV: All other Sections in the said Resolution adopt- ed on the 3rd day of October, 1972 is hereby ratif led, and confir except by the Addendum by this Resolution. This Resolution shall take effect upon its due adoption and publication as required by law. ADOPTED THIS THE 24th day September, Motion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop that the City authorize sub -contracting from Overstreet and Smith to smith and Co., Mao. on water transmission lines subject to approval of H U D. T,iotion carried. Petition to pave Blue Island Ave. was held for next paving venture Notion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that the Mayor be authors ed to discuss with Newman lhdust- ries the sub -contracting of garbage pick-up at their place of bus- iness. Motion carried. Notion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop tha, the Council accept application of T. J. Klumpp for all utilities at the N, W. corner of Fairhope Avenue and Belforest Road and alloy him to run his own sewer transmission line to tie in at Middle School pump station and further furnish water and gas on existing lines and will furnish electricity subject to approval of opinion by the Attorney General if any of Riviera Utilities lines are bein, duplicated. Upon bein uut to vote the followingvote was record- ed. For: Councilmen: Hg t. Bishop Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull, Against: Councilman Ed Bishop. Notion carried. Letter from Department of Public Health stating that Mike Rejezyk amcl has passed his examination for Certified Grade III Operator and Ronald Davidson for Certified Grade I Operator. Council commended these employees on obtaining their certificates. Councilman Barney Shull presented report on cathodic protection on City's transmission and distribution gas lines. Notion by Councilman Ed Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney Shul that Mayor Nix be authorized to write Congressman Jack Edwards for loan of foam fire truck for the Municipal Airport. Notion carrie d. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Notion carried. Attest..
