STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Ivbnday,
September 109 1973 at 7:00 P.M- with the following members present
Mayor James P, Nix, Councilmen: David (Ed) Bishop, H. G. Bishop,
Sam E, Box, Illie E, Deese and Barney L. 5au11.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
ibtion by Councilman H, G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney
Shull that Fairhope Single Tax Corporation be refunded $19011.60
City Tax out of first money received from Tax Collector this Fall.
Motion carried,
I,htion ny Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Ed Bishop that
Ordinance No, 5139 Careless Driving, introduced at the regular
meeting of August 279 1973 be adopted as introduced, Motion carr-
ied.
Qa recommendation of Mr. H, S, St,John, Engineer, Councilman Ed.
Bishop moved, seconded by Councilman H, G,, Bishop that City Sign
contract with Alabama Power Company as presented. Motion carried,'
Motion by Councilman Ed Bishop seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop
that the City Attorney draw up Ordinance amending sewer connection
charge In sub -divisions where subdivider has installed sewer lines
Notion carried.
Councilman Ed Bishop moved, seconded by Councilman Barney Shull
that Mayor Nix be authorized to appoint a Bi-Centennial committee
representing all citizens of Fairhope. Notion carried.
The request of Wilson & Yeager to vacate easement and remove
gas line between Lots 6 & 7, Colonial Acres Subdivision, Part 1,
Blk, 1, property owner to pay cost of moving line and deeding to
the City a 15 ft, utility easement across -the -north half o f the
south half of hot 6 was presented. Notion by Councilman Sam Box
seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that the City Superintendent
be instructed to move gas -line subjeot.to above terms, Notion
carried.
Request of T, J, Klumpp for utilities of Fairhope Avenue and from
Claude Arnold, representing the ]!'airhope Single Tax Corporation,
were held for next regular meeting of the City Council,
Councilman 011ie Deese moved, seconded by Councilman Sam Box that
City open bid from Gaston Nbtor Company on truck for the Electric
Department, this being only bid received, Notion carried.
Notion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman Sam Box
that City accept bid of Gaston Irbtor Company on truck in the
amount of 049540,82 as submitted provided bids meets specifica-
tions. D16tion carried.
Mrs. Florence Thames complaint on her utility bill was referred
to Councilman Ed Bishop,
Motion by Councilman H. G., Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney
Shull that the bills be approved for payment. Notion carried.
It was duly moved, seconded and carried that the mejb�ing adjourn.
