COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular kession
at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday,
April 23, 1973 at 7,00 P.M. with the following members present:
Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen David (Ed)Bishop, H. G. Bishop,
Sam Box, 011ie Deese and Barney Shull.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Deese seconded by Councilman Shull that
the City donate $100.00 to Joys for Tots to help defray defecit
from last years activities. Motion carried,
This being date set for opening bids on carpeting for building to
be knovm as Fairhope Civic Center, one bid being received in the
amount of $10447,50 from Fairhope Floor Covering, no reply from
other requests for bids. Motion by Councilman Ed Bishop seconded
by Councilman 011ie Deese that the City accept bid of Fairhope
Floor Covering in the amount of $19447,50 provided bid meets all
specifications. Motion carried. r
This being date set for opening bids on Cab & Chassis„ only one
bid received from Gaston Motor Company in the amount of $4,648.84.
Councilman 011ie Deese moved, seconded by,:Councilman Sam Box that
City accept bid of Gaston Motor Co.,in the amount of $4,648.84
ppovided bid meets specifications. Upon being put to vote the
following vote was recordedt Voting For: Councilmen:H. G. Bishop,
Sam Box, 011ie Deese and Barney Shull, Voting Against, Councilman
Ed Bishop. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Deese that City
ask for bids on Air Conditioning and Heating the Fairhope Civic
Center. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Shull that Mayor
Nix be authorized to contact the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
in regards to paving alley off Bancroft Street and installing
curb and gutter on Bancroft Street. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman 011ie
Deese that the City authorize up to $825.00 for Fireworo Display
for July 4�th., 1973. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Barney
Shull that the following Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fairhope
did on the 9th day of April 1973 at its regular meeting opened
bids for fuel for the use of city vehicles, and
WHEREAS, Gulf Oil Corporation was the low bidder on the bids
opened and received, and
WHEREAS, after the low bidder was awarded the said bid, it
was discovered that the bid specifications were incomplete.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the motion awarding to
the lowest bidder be; and the same is hereby rescinded, and FURTHE
BE IT RESOLVED that new bids with complete specifications be mail-
ed out for fuel consumption by the City of Fairhope.
ADOPTED THIS THE 23rd day of,\April, 1973.
