HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-26-1973 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday, March 26, 1973 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Jmaes P. Nix, Councilmen: David (Ed) Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull. This being date set for public hearing on rezoning property on White-Spunner and Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Dyas , one parcel from R-1 and R-2 to B-2 and one parcel from R-1 to B-3, property bound by U. S. Hwy, 98, Alabama Hwy. 104 and U. S. Hwy. 98 Business Routii the Mayor opened the meeting for discussion. White-Spwner and Dya presented their plans for developing the property. After hearing from representatives for and against the rezoning and petitions having been presented to the Council for and against the rezoning, Councilman Box moved that the rezoning be denied as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded the motion and on roll call the results were as follows: For: Councilmen: Ed Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam Box and 011ie Deese. Against: Councilman Barney Shull, lotion carried. Rezoning from R-1 to R-3, Parcel B, Niemeyer Subdivision, was brought up for discussion. Mr. Carlton Niemeyer presented his plans and the meeting was opened for discussion. After hearing discussion for and against, Councilman 'Ed Bishop moved that the rezoning be denied as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Comm- ission, motionseconded by Councilman Sam Box and on roll call the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen: Ed Bishop and Sam Box. Against: Councilmen: H. --G. Bishop, 011ie Deese ' and Barney L. Shull. Motion defeated. Councilman Shull introduced the following Ordinance based on the fact that the application of Mr. Niemeyer meets -all requirements of the Planning and Zoning Commission. c ORDINANCE No. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13, DISTRICT BOUNDARIES, OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 295- BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY ,COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, P BAMA, that Section 13, District Boundaries, Zoning Ordinance No. 295 be amended by rezoning from R-1 to R-3 the following descrit •property located on the North side of Fairhope Avenue between Ingleside Avenue and Greeno Road: Parcel B. Niemeyer Subdivision, S/E J of N/E -j of Section 179 Township 6 South, Range 2 East, Baldwin County, Alabama, of the lands of the Fairhope Single Tax Corp- oration in the City of Fairhope, ,Alabama. 1. Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Bi Bishop that the minutes of the previous regular meeting be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Council- ;nar H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the minutes of Vhe special meeting of March 17, 1973 be approved. Motion carried. The following bids were received on Water Pipe: Mc Wane Cast Iron Pipe Co. 4615' - 6" - $2.18 ft. 500 - 8" - 2.93 ft. Delivery 7 days. American Cast Iron Pipe Co. 4615' - 6" - $2.13 ft. 500 - 8" - 2.87 ft. Delivery as required. Moore -Handley 4615 - 6" - $2.13 500' - 8" 2.87 Delivery 21 days. Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman that the City accept bid of American Cast Iron Pipe vided bid meets specifications. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by application of Otis Quaites'for Beer on Twin Beech Road be denied. Motion # n^1 Request to run sewer line -'along Dyer action taken at this time. "Lucky, Spot" Road wasdiscussed but no '1 d ► 1 Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman E3 Bishop that the City ask for bids on gasoline for City use. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that City enter lease agreement with the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation for Library property. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman 011ie Deese that the City ask for bids on Indoor - Outdoor carpeting for the old Baptist Church Building on Murphy Avenue. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Deese seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop that the City send 3 Firemen,to Fire School at the University of Alabama. Motion carried. It was duly moved, seconded and carried that the meeting adjourn. Attest:
