STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at
the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue on January
89 1973 at 7:00 P-M. with the following members present: Mayor
James P. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E.
Box: 011ie E. Deese and Barney L- Shull.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Deese that the
request of Delchamps to sell package beer be approved. Upon being
put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting For: Council-
men: Sam Box, 011ie Deese, H. G. Bishop and Barney Shull. Voting
against: Councilman David E. Bishop. Notion carried.
Residents met with Council protesting the increased Bewer charge.
A chart showing cost of necessary improvements to water and sewer
system was presented and explained that the increase was necessary
to pay for additional improvements that had to be made,
Residents met with Council requesting that the Council reconsider
its decision to dispense with planning design consultants as they
felt that comparable professional landscape and urban design
services were not available from the South Alabama Regional Plann-
ing Commission. No action taken.
Motion by Councilman He G- Bishop seconded by Councilman David E.
Bishop that bad debts in the amount of $3,321•33 be charged off
the books, kbtlon carried.
Motion by Councilman Boxx seconded by Councilman David E. Bishop
that Mr. Tom Parks be appointed to the Industrial Development Bo
for two year term and that Mr- R. A. Malone be appointed for a s
year term. Notion carried.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman David E. Bishop
that Mr. Jack Stipes be appointed to the Recreation Board to fill
unexpired term of W. W. C- Majors who has resigned to become
coordinator of the Recreation Department and that Mr. Charlie
Gravat be appointed to fill unexpired term of Leslie Allen. Notio
carried.
Notion by Councilman David E. Bishop seconded by Councilman 011ie
Deese that the following be officially appointed to the Golf Boar
Col. James A. Benford
Mr., Jim Gaston
Dr. Robert Johnson
Nr., R. C. Macon
Mr. John Beasley
Mayor James Nix.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Barney Shull
that Wm. Bright Inc., Consultant'Engineers, be authoriFed to
make corrosion survey of gas lines. Notion,earried.
This being date set for opening bids

An ordinance authorizing the issuance of $875,000
principal amount of revenue bonds of the City of Fairhope,
Alabama, under the provisions of Title 37, Chapter 6, Art—
icle 2, Subdivision 3, of the Code of Alabama, as amended,
was duly passed by the City Council of the City of Fairhope,
Alabama, on the 27th day of November, 1972, for the purpose
of acquiring and constructing additions and improvements to
the City's sanitary sewer system and water system. The said
bonds will be secured by a pledge of revenues derived from
the operation of the said systems, and the City's natural
gas system. Any action or proceeding questioning the valid—
ity of said ordinance must be commenced within thirty days
after the first publication of this notice.
