11-10-1969 Regular Meeting
STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, November 10, 1969 at 7:30 P.M., with the following members present: mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix, Robert H. Cowen, Henry G. Bishop and John A. Robert- son. Councilman Sam Box being absent. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen that bill of Aust-ponder in the amount of $2,629.80 be approved for payment as recommended by the Industrial Development Board. Motion carried. Motion by. Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Bishop that Moore Engineering Company be authorized to proceed with initating a street resurfacing project with State forces. Motion carried. Mr. St. John, Consulting Engineer, gave a detailed report on the Electric Rate Study prepared for the City of Fairhope. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman 'Robertson that Ordinance No. 424, An Ordinance Amending Schedule 136 of Ordinance No. 221, Providing General License Taxes in the City of Fairhope, Alabama and to Amend Schedule No. 31 of Ordinance No. 221 as Last Amended by Ordinance No. 242, introduced at the regular meeting of October 27, 1969 be adopted as introduced. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Robertson that the following Ordinance be introduced: ORDINANCE NO. � 6_ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 139 DISTRICT BOUNDARIES OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 295. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA that Section 13, of Zoning Ordinance No. 295 be amended by rezoning the following described property from R-1 to R-3: East 1/2 of the Southwest 1/4 of the South- west 1/4 less street on North and the East 1/2 less 10 feet on the West of the South- west 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 15, Township 6 South, Range 2 Q East, Baldwin County, Alabama, being 25 acres more or less, on Morphy Avenue in the Police Jurisdiction. notion by Councilman Robertson that the following Or dinance be introduced: ORDINANCE NO. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, kLABAMA that Section 13 of Zoning Ordinance No. 295 be amended by rezoning the following described property from R-1 to B-2: From the Northeast corner of Section 59 Township 6 South, Range 2 East, run North 890 35' 43" West, 1980 feet to an iron pipe; thence run South 000 O1' West 891.8 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING: Thence con- tinue South 00° O1' West, 397.8 feet to an iron pipe on the North right-of-way of Parker Road, a public right-of-way; thence run South 89° 25' West along said North right-of-way of Parker Road, 180.4 feet to a concrete monument in a curve of the right-of-way of U.S. Hwy. 989 said curve having a radius of 7519.44 feet; thence run Northwestwardly along said right-of- way curve 405 feet to a point that is 404.95 feet and bears North 100 21147" West from the concrete marker last described; thence run North 890 41' 50" East 253.37 Ft. to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 2 acrese Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that mayor and City Clerk be authorized to purchase $10,000.00 savings certi- ficate for Water and Sewer Improvement Fund. motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that Mrs. Helen Dyson be reappointed to the School of Organic Education Boar( of Managers for a three year term. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Nix that Mr. Mike Ford be appointed to the Industrial Development Board re- placing Mr. Charles Earle, for a term ending January, 1971, motion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by-, Councilman Bishop that the bills be approved for payment. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that the area -enclosed by the Circle drive at the new Municipal Pier be dedicated as Fairhope Memorial Park in honor of all those who have served our Nation, past, present and future.
