HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-08-1969 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWI N The City Council of the Ci y of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, 89 1969 at 7:30 P.M., with the following members presents Mayor Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix, Robert H. Cowen, Henry G. Bishop and John A. Robertson. Council- man Sam Box being absent. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that Or- dinance No. 4219 An Ordinance Granting A Franchise To Telepromp- ter Ca&le T. V. Company, Inc. Its Successors and Assigns, To Operate and Maintain A Community Antenna Television System in The City: Setting Forth Conditions Accompanying The Grant of Franchise: Providing For City Regulations And Use of the Community Antenna Television System: And Prescribing Penalties For Violation Of The Franchise Privisions, introduced at the regular meeting of August 252 1969 and published in the Fairhope Courier in its issue of August 28, 1969, be adopted as introduced. Motion carried unanimously Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Bishop that Council authorize $400.00 toward purchase of 79000 City maps as requested by the Chamber of Commerce. Motion carried. Miss Helen Stukenholtz, representing Eastern Shore Art Associa- tion met with Council in regards to Christmas decorations painted by members of the Association to be placed in Knoll Park and beach area. Taken under advisement. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Nix that the Mayor be authorized to appoint a committee to draw up specifi- cations for Rescue Wagon for Council approval. Motion carried. Mayor Macon then appointed Jack Kirk, Chief Gilheart and Roy Whit as the Committee. Mr. Robert Gates requested that City run sewer line on Simon Street at approximate cost of $1,200.00. Councilman Box to report to Council. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that bills be approved for payment. Motion carried. This being date set for opening bids on Line truck for Electrid Department the following bids were received: Gaston Motor Company, Truck Chassis $59247.00 Steber Chevrolet Co., Truck Chassis $4,768.06 Altec, Inc., Birmingham Line Body $19,931.59 Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Robertson that bids be turned over to Councilman Nix, Jack Kirk and Bill Creamer for evaluation and report to Council. Motion carried. Mayor Macon appointed Councilman Bishop to meet with Mr. Lemler, Riviera Utilities concerning purchase of electric lines in City limits. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Cowen that City appropriate funds for Bill Creamer to attend National Electrical Inspectors Conference, week of September 22, 1969. motion carried Mayor Macon read report on final inspection on new Pier. motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that in compliant with State Department of Conservation that the City Engineer and St intendent comply with three provisions of report. 1. Provide sewer pump for Marina. 2. Removal of gasoline sign in Boat Harbor. 3. Overhead wire around picnic shelters be placed underground. Motion carried. The following bids were received on 1811 and 24" corrugated metal pipe. Choctaw, Inc. 24" - $3.69 18" - $2.84 1% - 30 Days Circle Pipe and Supply 2401 - $4.27 1811 - $3.29 2% - loth Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that Cit,, accept low bid of Choctaw, Inc., Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Robertson that Council authorize repairs on Caterpillar Traccavator at an ap- proximate cost of $800.00. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that $2,000.00 be transferred from General Fund to Beach and Pier Project Account to pay interest on note due. Motion carried.
