HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-05-1969 Special MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in special session at the City Hall, Tuesday, August 5,. 1969 at 5:00 P.N. with the following members present: Mayor R. C; Nacon, Councilmen: James P. Nix,' H.{ G.; Bishop, John A. Robertson and. Sam E. Box., Councilman Robert H.' Cowen being absent*, Each member present signed waive notice of the calling and ing of the special meeting.K Councilman Box moved that the following Resolution be introd WHEREAS, The City of Fairhope, Alabama organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Alabama (herin called the "Applioanf *), has -heretofore submitted an application to the United States of America, acting by and through the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (herin called the Government'% for a grant under Section 702 of the Housing and Urban Development Aot of 19659 for the purposes designated in the said application; and. WHEREAS, the Government has approved the said application subject to certain conditions and has submitted to the Applicant a certain Grant Agreement dated as of July 11, 1969 (herein called the "Grant Agreement", for approval and execution by the Applicant Nhioh said Grant Agreement is satisfactory, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE WITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA of the Applicant that the said Grao kgreement,, a copy of which is attached hereto, be and, the same is hereby approved. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed ;o execute the said Grant Agreement in the name and on behalf of ;he Applicant, in as many counterparts as may be necessary, and the %ty Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to affix or impress It official seal of.the Applicant thereon and to attest the same., 'he proper officer is directed to forward the said executed counter parts of the said Grant Agreement to the Government, ;oge#her with such other documents evidencing the approval and Luthorization to ex6oute the same as may be required by the government.' Said Resolution was read in full and discussed and considered. Councilman Box then moved the adoption of the Resolution as ntroduced and read.; Councilman Nix seconded the motion, and, on oll call, the following voted "Aye": Mayor Macon, Councilmen: ame s P. Nix, H. G: Bishops John A. ". Robert son and Sam E. Boxg and he following voted "Nay": None: The Mayor thereupon deolared the motion carried and the ution adopted as introduced and read.; Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that (City enter into contract with Computer Service of Alabama, Inc., in accordance with proposal of July 25, 1969.+ Motion carried. BAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN We, the undersigned members of the Fairhope City Council hereby waive notice of the calling of a special meeting of the Council for the purpose of discussing and taking necessary action on Computer Utility billing and Water and Sewer Application, and do consent that said meeting be held at the City Hall, Tuesday, August 5, 1969 at 5:00 P.M. in the City of--Fairhope, Ala. NOTICE AND CERTIFICATE Notice of Special Meeting to the Councilmen of the City of Fairhope, Alabama. Notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama will be held at the City Hall in the Council Room, the regular meeting place thereof, at 5:00 P.M., on the 5th day of August, 19699 for the purpose of adopting a resolution accepting the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Grant Agreement, Federal Contract No. H-302-3730, and for the purpose of transacting any other business which may properly come before such meeting. July 28, 1969 SUBJECT: Recommended Procedure for accomplishing the improvements on Church /STreet and "Morphy Ave. and Oak Street that you have indicated to me as being your wish: A.: Have Concrete Curbing installed on Church Street from Morphy Ave. to De La Mare St., by CITY OF FAIRHOfE Crews, beginning at once, to grades determined by your engineer and assitants, as approved by your supermntendant, Mr. Kirk: Cost: $3000.00 B.: Have Church Street paving removed, base replaced and re - compacted, and street repaved with shell -mix -asphaltic concrete pavement, by Licensed Contractor: Cost: 615,000.00 C.: Have Underground drainage installed on Church Street, Fels Ave. to Morphy Ave., and on Morphy Ave., Sec. St. to Church St., by City Crews: Cost: 70800.00 ( Coal t, Lic. Contractor:) $14 s 950. AA D.: Have City Crews install Concrete Curbing on Morphy Ave., Sec. St. to Church St., and on Church St., Fels Ave. to Morphy Ave.; Cost: 2,000.00 E.: Have Church St., Fels to Morphy, and Morphy, Sec. to Church, repaved, same procedure as "Bn above: Cost: $15,000.00 APPROXIMATE TOTAL COST OF ARM": 42, 800.00 F.: With the above items completed or approximately so, begin laying sidew]Llks, by City crews: and commence revision of stvvm sewer drainage, additional new curbing, and pavement improvements from De La Mare Street Northward to Oak Street.
