COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular sess1
at the City Hall, Monday, May 269 1969 at 7930 P.M. with the
following members present: Mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen: H. G.
Bishop, Sam E. Box, R. H. Cowen and James P. Nix. Councilman
J. A. Robertson being absent.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were corrected
to read as follows:
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Nix that
the Mayor and City Attorney be authorized to negotiate with the
First National Bank of Fairhope for a loan of $2009000.00 which
will be a general obligation of the City and is to be used for
completion of new Municipal Pier. It is further authorized to
have Bond Attorneys furnish the Lending Agent as to the validity
of the loan and to draft necessary Resolutions. Upon being put
to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen: Box,
Robertson and Nix. Against: None. Councilmen Bishopand Cowen
abstained from voting. Motion carried.
Minutes of previous regular meeting approved as corrected.
Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Bishop that
the application of Schermer Pecan Company for building permit be
approved as submitted. Motion carried.
The following letter was read to the Council:
Mayor and Council Today is May 23, 1969
City of Fairhope
Fairhope, Alabama
Gentlemen:
In accordance with the specifications for the
"Pier and Beach Recreation Facility", Mr. Ingram and
I have made the final inspection today on this project,
and all bid items have been completed in accordance
with the project plans and specifications.
The contractor is making the necessary advertise-
ments published in the local paper as provided in
Article 5.16(b) State Highway Department Standard
specifications, 1964 Edition. Final payment will be
due the contractor after the legal advertisement in
the paper has been completed, all known creditors
paid, and final inspection by BOR or State engineers.
When the City accepts the pier for maintenance, the
contractor is still responsible for his materials
and workmanship for one year after acceptance.

Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Nix
that the City accept the Pier as being completed according to
specifications as outlined in above letter. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Box that
the City ask for bids on air conditioning as per specifications.
Bids are to be opened on Monday, June 9, 1969 at the regular
meeting of the City Council with the City reserving the right to
reject any or all bids. Notion carried.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
