HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-28-1969 Regular Meeting(STATE OF ALABAMA I COUNTY OF BALDWIN ) The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall Monday, April 28, 1969 at 7s30 P.M., with the fol- lowing members present: Mauor Macon, Councilmen: Nix, Cowen, Bishol land Box. Councilman Robertson being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Cowen that the City purchase two blinker lights, one for the "Y" and one for Greei (Road and Highway 104. Motion carried. Motion by Coundlman Nix seconded by Councilman Box that the Cit, purchase 16,640 lbs. of #397 ACSR and 6,300 lbs. of 4/0 ACSR. Mo- tion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Bishop that City employ four students for three summer months. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that Mrs C. D. Harrell be appointed to the Library Board for a five year period effective May 4, 1969, replacing Dr.CA. Gaston whose term expires on_May 49 1969. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Box that Cit,. return right-of-way deed as requested by Mr. M. Dial. Motion Carr: The following bids were received on two 2-way radios complete: General Electric $1,426.00 Motorola $1,174.00 Electronic Services $ 928.30 Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Bishop that Cit/ accept low bid of Electronic Services for one 2-way radio complete. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Box that City purchase McCabe Power Unit for Ladder truck. motion carried. . Mayor Macon read letter from Mr. L, I. Boone concerning con- crete sidewalks, -,curb and gutter on South Church Street. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that Mayor write A` . If �o Led. 01 of 11 i Mr. Boone that as soon as it is feasible the work will be done. At the present the main concern is school and downtown areas. Mo- tion carried. A letter from Mr. C. C. Baldwin regarding fence on Kendrick pr perty extending out on street was read. motion by Councilman Bisho seconded by Councilman Cowen that letter be acknowledged and that City Supt., investigate and make a thorough report to Council at the next regular meeting. motion carried. A request from Seacoast Mfg. Co., to place coin operated view- ing machines on Municipal Pier was presented. Motion by Councilmar, Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that City accept proposal of Iseacoast Manfuctering Company and authorize Mayor to sign contract. It was further moved that Seacoast Manufacturing Co., be referred o the Harbor Board for placement of machines. Motion carried.
