HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-1969 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN' The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, march 249 1969 at 7:30 P.M., with the fol- lowing members presents Councilmen; Nix, Cowen, Bishop, Robertson and Box, Mayor Macon being absent. Councilman Robertson duly elected Mayor Protem presided at the meeting in the absence of Mayor Macon. Minutes of the previous regular and special meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Bishop, seconded by Councilman Cowen that City proceed with purchase of land and that money be appropriated 50% from Gas Department and 50% from Electric Department; to be paid upon delivery of deed conveying the following described pro- perty which adjoins property now owned by th a City: All of the NWJ (quarter) of SW4 of Sec. 20, Towbship 6 South, Range 2 East, Bal- dwin County, lying South of the South Boundary line of the Baron DeFerriet Grant section 18 of said township being otherwise described as follows: Beginning at the SW Corner of the NWi of SWiLbf -Section 20, T6S, R2E, run North along the section line 13.92 chains to the South boundary of the Boudousquie or Royston tract in DeFerriet Grant Sec. 18; thence run S 58 degrees, 45 mia. East along the grant line 1553 feet more or less to the East boundary of said NWi of SW-; thence run South 113 feet more or less to the southeast corner of the NW4 of SW of said section; thence run West 1328 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning. Containint 15.7 acres, more or less, in Laid NW1.:of • SW1, '.Sec,., . 209 T6S, R2E. r- Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Nix that City authorize the Industrial Board to make necessary arrangements for topo map of proposed industrial subdivision and, if necessary, a soil bearing capacity test as requested in letter dated March 24, 1969. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that Jack Kirk be authorized to proceed with gas line on Park City and Yanoe/ Roads. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Bishop that Citi open Live Oak Street as requested. motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that City approve bill of $360.00 for boring and casing gas line under Hwy. 31. motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that City authorize purchase of 300 feet of dectile iron pipe. motion carri Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Cowen that Cou cil approve mayor's trip to Washington, D. C., to attend National League of municipalities Convention from march 36th through Apr. 1, 1969. motion carried. Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Bishop that the following be appointed to the Harbor Board effective April, 1969. Mr. J. S . Huet, 3 years Mr. Calvin Hanson, 2 years Mr. H. B. It is our request that this land be sub- divided into approximately five kacre sites, showing streets and utility access to separate lots.] We'feel that this should be done by an engineer;., We requesto the engineer to give us a topo map of proposed indust�riall subdivision.
