HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-14-1968 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall Monday,..October 14,.1968 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen James P. Nix, Robert H. Cowen, Henry G. Bishop, Sam E. Box and John A. Robertson The minutes of the previous meeting of October 7th being the or- ganizational meeting, were approved. Motion by Councilman Nix, seconded by Councilman Box that Or- dinance #404, Rules of Procedure, introduced at the meeting of October 7, 19689 be adopted as introduced. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Box that minute: of Council meetings be published within the week of the meeting. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Oouncilman Cowen that $25,000.00 be transferred from Electric Fund to General Fund for payment of new Fire Truck. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Cowen that City Clerk be authorized to cash Beach and Pier project certifi- cates and approve payment of Gulf Construction Co., and Moore Engineering Co., bills on Pier Project. Motion carried. Mr. Barney Shull, Chairman of the Recreation Board, presented the Boards budget for 1969. r Mayor Macon made the following appointments with approval of the City Councils Mr. E. G. Rickarby, City Attorney Mr. Leo "Bud" Gilheart, Chief of Police Mr. Henry Nolte, Assistant Chief Mr. Walter Patton, City Recorder Mr. Jack Kirk, General Superintendent,. Mr. William Creamer, Electric Superintendent Mr. Henry Creamer, Street Superintendent Mr. Howard Ruge, Shop Superintendent and Purchasing Agen . Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Box City Superintendent be authorized to purchase truck load gas pipe on contract bid price. Motion carried. that of 211 & 31411 Councilman .,Box requested that City Superintendent present plans and costs to the Council on disposal and filtering plants. Mayor Macon appointed:Councilman Box and Bishop as committee to work with City Syperintendent and Mayor on this project. Motion by Councilman Bishop.seconded by Councilman Cowen that the proper City authorities take necessary action to collect 15 mill city tax on auto tags within the City Limits of Fairhope being purchased without payment of this tax. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Robertson that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Approved Mayor > ATTEST: i y C119rK
