COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met at the City Hall,
Wednesday, August 14, 1968 at 7:30 P.M. to canvass returns of
Municipal Election held on August 13, 1968 with the following
members present: Mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds,
Stipes, Gaston and Stine. ;

Reynolds that the following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
Whereas, the general election for the City of Fairhope was
duly and legally held on the 13th day of August, 1968, as provided
by law, and
Whereas, the municipal governing body of the City of Fair -
hope met on the 14th day of August, 1968, all members thereof
being present, at 0 O'clock „P:,M., and has canvassed the re-
turns,'and has ascertained and determined the number.of votes
received by each candidate, and
Whereas, the said municipal governing body has ascertained
and determined the results of said election as follows:

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the City Council of the
City of Fairhope, Alabama, as follows:
That R. C. Macon received a majority of the votes cast
for the office of -Mayor and is hereby declared duly elect®d
to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in
October, 1968.
That no candidate received a majority of the votes cast for
the office of Councilman Place No. l., and that James P. "Jim" Ni)

and Walter L. Poser received the most and second most votes
cast for that office, therefore a runoff election between said
candidates is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday, September 10,
19689 pursuant to the requirements of Act. No. 663, Regular Ses-
sion of the Legislature, 1961.
That John A. Robertson received a majority of the votes
cast for the office of Councilman Place No.2, and is hereby de-
clared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the
first Monday in October, 1968.
That no candidate received a majority of the votes cast for
the
office
of
Councilman, Place No:39
and
that

Stipes received
the
most
and
second most votes
cast- for that office, therefore a runoff election between said ca
didates is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday, September 1691968
pursuant to the requirements of Act No. 6639 Regular session of th
Legislature 1961.
That no candidate received a majority of tie votes caste for
the office of Councilman, Place No.4, and that Henry G. Bishop
and Robert J. McArthur, Jraeceived the most and second most
votes cast for that office, therefore a runoff election between
said candidates is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday, Sep. 16,1!

That no candidate received a majority of the votes cast -for
the office of Councilman, Place No. 5, and that Sam E. Box, Jr.
and Frank J. Manc_i_ received the most and second most votes
cast for that office, therefore a runoff election between said
candidates is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday, Seppember 10,
19689, pursuant to the requirements of Act No. 663, Regular Ses-
sion of the Legislature 1961.
