HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-26-1968 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, February 269 1968 at 7:30 P.M. with the following.members present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that Hathcock Funeral Home be authorized to install sign on Fels Avenue and on Bay View Avenue subject to approval of the City Building Inspector and compliance with City Sign Ordinance. Motion carried Mayor Macon appointed City Attorney John Duck, Councilmen Gaston and Stipes as a committee to work with him to check Park area adjacent to Ashley Drive and report to the Council at their next regular meeting. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stipes that the property previously deeded to the City by Mrs. Malcolm and Mrs. Hedden as utility easement and now abandoned by the City be deed- ed back to said parties since property is no longer being used by the City. Motion carried. Mayor Macon reported that the City is now a member of the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission and that Mr. H. A. Peters,111 Councilman R. J. Spader and Mayor Macon will represent the City as a Committee. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that when either the Contractor, Bouler Contractor, or Bonding Company shows release from Mrs. Hinz, the City will release money being held by the City to the Contractor. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Stipes that Ack Moore, Engineer, be authorized to set up meeting of the Mayor and City Councilmen of Fairhope and Mr.'Nelson of the State High- way Department concerning widening and paving Fairhope Avenue and Section Street. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston that the City Audit and Graph be published inX The Fairhope Courier. Motion c rried. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Reynolds that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to purchase 50 gas meters at an approximate cost of Q1340.00 and a starting engine for Grader at approximate cost of �p450.00. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston that Moore Engineering Company be authorized to advertise for bids on Utility Adjustment for Project No. 5-635(5)9 Daphne to Spanish Fort.
