COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, March 14, 1966 at 7:30 P.N. with the
following members present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen: Spader,
Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Mr. Henry Parker requested permission to hang Wallace Banner in
the triangle at the Y. Request taken under advisement.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston that
the following Ordinance be introduced: Notion carried.
ORDINANCE # 352
AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT THBESOUTHERN STANDARD GAS CODE, 1965 EDITION
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Fairhope,'Alabama that all
natural gas work and all materials and appliances used in connec-
tion therewith installed within the City shall conform to the rule,
and regulations and requirements of the 1965 Southern Standard
Gas Code, and said rules and regulations are hereby adopted and
approved as a part of the Code of Ordinanoes, Chapter 119 and by
reference made a part thereof,'

AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION$ 5-1 OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE,
ALABAMA AND IN ITS PLACE AND STEAD ADOPT THE SOUTHERN STANDARD
BUILDING CODE 19659, AND SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, PART-3
(PLUMBING)'1965'EDITION, AND SOUTHER.9-STANDARD BUILDING CODE
PART 4 (HOUSING).
BE IT ORDAINED by_ the City Council of Fairhope, Alabama that
Section 5-1 of the City Code of Fairhope, Alabama be, and the same
Is hereby repealed, and in its place and stead hereby adopts the
following:
The purpose of regulating the construction, alteration,
repair or removal of buildings or structures, there is hereby
adopted the Southern Standard Building Code, 1965 Edition, and
the Southern Standard Building_Code, Part 3 (Plumbing( adopted by
the Southern Standard Building Code Congress, 1965 Edition, and
the Southern Standard Building Code, Part 4(Housing) i965 Edition,
three copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk;
and the same are hereby adopted by reference as fully as if set ou
at length herein; subject, however, to all amendments, substitutic
deletions and modifications therein contained.

ORDINANCE # 3 s
AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 8-2 FROM THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, AND ALSO KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO, 2369
SECTION 39 AND ADOPT IN ITS'PLACE AND STEAD AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING
THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF 1965.
BE IT ORDAINED'by the City -Council of the City of Fairhope, Alaban
that Section 8-2 of the Code of Ordinances of Fairhope be repealer
and in its place and stead substitute the followings
All electrical work and all materials and appliances used in
connection therewith installed within the City XKk shall conform
to the rules and regulations and requirements of the 1965 National
Electrical Code, and said rules and regulations are hereby adopted
and approved as a part of tilis chapter? arid by refe:rerscc ��e made
a part thereof.

Motion by Councilman B:-ynolds seconded by Councilman. Spad.er that
Ordinance #3509 An Ordinance to Amend See61on 9-1 of the Code of
the City of Fairhope, Alabama, "Fire Prevention Code" be adopted
as introduced at the regular meeting of February 28,_1966.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that
Ordinance #351 9 An Ordinance to amend Ordinam a #348 to Except
to Setback Line from Bayview Avenue to Mershon Street on Fairhope
Avenue, be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of
February 28, 1966. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stine that
the Gas Department be authorized to install gas line at Stapleton
as requested. Motion carried unanimously.
Notion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the
City purchase two side-pak bolt on compartments for meter readers
truck and gas truck. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the following Ordinance be introduced. Motion carried.

Motion by Councilman Spader that the Recreation Board be authoriz,
to proceed with construction of ball diamonds. Notion died for
lack of second.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Spader that
Mr. D. T. Chatwood be reappointed to the Recreation Board for
a period of five years. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Reynolds that
the bills be approved for payment. Notion carried.
Notion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Stipes that
Bill Creamer attend Electrical Inspection School to be held in
Birmingham in April.! Notion carried.
Motion by ,Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Spader
that sewer line be extended approai-tately 125' on E. Morphy
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that
the City secure bids on repairs on 759000 gal* water tank as
recommended in report of Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. Motion
carried.
The request for assistance in financing the Junior Great Books
Discussion Program was held for further consideration.
Iatter from Wisteria Garden Club was referred to Mr. Dyson.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Gaston that the
meeting adjourn. Upon being put to vote the following vote was
recorded: Voting For: Councilmen: Gaston, Stine and Spader.
Voting Against: Councilman Stipes, Councilman ReynoUs abstained
from voting. Motion carried.
