COUNTY OF BALDWIN
December 11, 1964
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met at 7:30 P. M. at
the City Hall in the City of Fairhope with the following members
present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston
and Stine.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Mr. Griffith met with the Council with request that City
consider building golf course on property known as Smith Tract with
alternate request that Council consider leasing property to individ-
ual to build golf course. Taken under advisement.
Members of Hospital Board requested that the City contribute
$109000.00 toward the addition to the hospital. Motion by Councilman
Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that the City contribute
$109000.00 toward the addition of 17 beds to Thomas Hospital. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston
that the following Ordinance be introduced.
ORDINANCE # 331
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE
that the assent of the City Council of the City of Fairhope is
hereby given for the vacation of Central Boulevard from Westleq
Street to Greeno Road and vacating Lots 1-12 in Block 5 and Lots
1-15 in Block 6 in Hedge Villa Place, a subdivision map of which
is recorded in Map Book 19 Page 719 of the Probate keeords of
Baldwin County, Alabhe aama and that a copy of thisn , oRa�,.VR11(da

Request to open streets for Stejskal Subdivision was tabled.
The request of Mrs. Ellis for street was tabled.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that
the City vacate corner of Lot 249 Rosa Avenue and U.S. 89, as recom-
mended by the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the City proceed with paving at Anna T. Jeanes School as per previous
Councilaction, cost not to exceed $1200.00. Motion carried unani-
mously.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that
1inal bills of Williams & Bouler be paid with the exception of
376.00 claim. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that
Moore Engineering Co. be authorized to proceed with engineering to
correct drainage at Nichols and Valley Streets and advertise for
bids. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that
request of Norah L. Sanders for beer permit be rejected due to location
in a R-1 zone. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Reynolds that
the request of Pic -A -Pak for packaged beer permit be tabled until a
written opinion from the City Attorney as to location to school etc,
has been received. Upon being put to vote the following vote was
recorded: For: 8ouneilman Spader, Reynolds, Stipes & Gaston. Against:
Councilman Stine. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the request of Mitchell Grocery for package beer be tabled, Motion
carried,
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston
that the following; Ordinance be introduced:
ORDINANCE # 332
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE # 2950
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE
that Section 139 District Boundaries of Zoning Ordinance #295 be
amended as recommended by the Planning Commission by rezoning the
following described property from R-1 to B-1:
From the Northwest Corner of the Northeast Quarter of
Section 20, Township 6 South, Range 2 East, run South
1345.5 ft. for a point of beginning: thence East 375
ft,; thence S 13 degrees 30' W 221 feet; thence West
324.5 ft.*, thence North 200 ft, more or less to the
point of beginning. Containing 1 1/2 Acres more or
less and lying in Government Subdivision No, 39 Section
209 T6S, R2E9 Baldwin County, Alabama.

under advisement.

Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Gaston that
above bids be turned over to Mr. Dyson and Mr. Wiggins for evaluation.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
Council dispense with meeting of December 28, 1964, Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that
bills be approved for payment. Motion carried.
Mayor Macon appointed Mr. Floyd Bung and Mr. Amon Gates to the
planning and Zoning Commission for a period of six years to correct
minutes of November 9, 1964,
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that the
meeting adjourn in unadjourned session o eet on Thursday, December
17th at 7:00 P. M. at the City Hall. ti carried,
