HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-12-1964 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAIIiA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, October 12, 1964 at 7:30 P. AI. with the following members present: Mayor M(Lcon, Councilmen: Gaston, Reynolds, Stine and Stipes. Councilman Spader being absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that the following Resolution be adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, that checks drawn_ on any and all funds of the City of Fairhope shall be signed by R. C. i;acon, Mayor, and !Vorie E-oore, City Clerk, and banks in which accounts of the City of Fairhope are carried are hereby authorized and directed to honor checks drawn on City Funds signed as herein above provided. I41otion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that the following Ordinance be introduced: BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama that Sec. 2-1.1 Business Administrator of the Code of Ordi- nances of the City of Fairhope, Alabama be amended to read as follows: 01,V. # 32 4 Sec. 2-1.1. Executive Assistant. The duties of the Executive Assistant, shall be to supervise and managge the City business office; process and approve all orders for purchasing city equipment; attend meetings of the city council and report on the affairs of the city when requested to do so and to carry out such other administrative duties as may be imposed on him by the city council. Councilman Stipes moved that unanimous consent be given for immediate consideration of and action. on said Ordinance, which motion was seconded by Councilman Gaston, and, upon being put to vote, the following vote was recorded: Yeas: Mayor Macon and Councilmen Gaston, Reynolds, Stine and Stipes. Nays: None. Councilman Spader absent. The Mayor thereupon declared that the motion for unanimous consent for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance had been carried. Councilman Gaston thereupon moved that the said Ordinance be finally adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Stine, and upon said motion being put to vote, the following vote was recorded: Yeas: Hayor Macon and Councilmen Gaston, Reynolds, Stine and Stipes. Nays: None. Councilman Spader being absent. The Mayor thereupon announced that the motion for adoption of said resolution has been unanimously carried. Mayor D"acon nominated C. B. Niemeyer as Executive Assistant. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that C. B. Niemeyer be appointed as Executive Assistant. I,?otion carried um ni- mously. Mayor Macon nominated Richard Lacey as City Attorney. ?Notion b Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that Richard Lacey be appointed as City Attorney. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Macon nominated George Dyson as City Superintendent of Gas, Water, Sewer and Street Departments. PIlotion by Councilman Reynolds, seconded by Councilman Gaston, that George Dyson be appointed City Superintendent. Motion carried unanimously. 1,1otion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Reynolds that office of Shop and Supply Superintendent be created and that Howard Ruge be appointed as Shop and Supply Superintendent. Motion carried unani- mously. -2- 1--lotion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that Workmen's Compensation in amount of 1''1,055.59 be approved for payment. Motion carried unanimously. Iiotion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Reynolds that request of Claude Jansen to rezone property on Greeno Road from R-2 to IM-1 be approved as recommended by the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission. Ivibtion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that the request of James Clark for rezoning be tabled. Motion carried unani- mously. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stine that Church Street be temporarily closed pending the outcome of a traffic in- vestigation. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Yeas: Councilmen Reynolds, Stine and Stipes. Nays: Councilman Gaston. I410tion carried. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Reynolds that the City Attorney be instructed to investigate the feasibility of setting up all City employees on retirement system.
