HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-14-1964 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMIA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Ylonday, September 149 1964 at 7:30 P. M. with the following members present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Spader. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Mr. Lipscomb met with Council pertaining to proposed Street on South Side of the High School. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that the following :Resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION A .RESOLUTION REwUESTING STATE 11UNICIPAL AID FUNDS FOR CERTAIN NEEDED STREET IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, the City has been advised by the Alabama State Highway Department that certain State Funds have been tentatively allocated for Assistance to municipalities of the State of Alabama in the improvement of streets and roads; and WHEREAS, it is hereby found and determined by this body that certain street and road improvements are necessary, and WHEREAS, the City desires to request State assistance in the construction of such improvements: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama as follows: (A) The Mayor is hereby authorized to request State Financial participation in the improvement of the roads and streets within the City of Fairhope, listed in the attached State Highway Department Form(s) SMWA-1-63. (B) That the State Highway Department be advised that it is the request of this body that the above projects be considered for improvement in the priority order listed on said forms. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute stxh requests as may be necessary for receiving consideration by the State for assistance in the above construction, and he hereby is directed to submit State Highway Department Project Data Sheets (Form SMWA-1-63) on each of the above projects and a copy of this resolution to the State Highway Department. Adopted this 14th day of September, 1964. MAYOR Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the request for permit to sell package beer at the Pik -A -Pak Store be tabled. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the Public Building Authority bill of Bradley, Arant, Rose & White in the amount of $685.33 be approved for payment. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that the rezoning request of Claude Jansen and James Clark be tabled for Council action by new Council. notion carried unanimously. Motion /by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the bill of Moore Engineering in the amount of $284.27 be approved for payment. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Gaston that the City Engineer be instructed to close the Gas Line Relocation negotiation with the State and Federal Government in accordance with City Attorney's letter to the City dated August 29, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Poser that the City Clerk be authorized to transfer $25,000.00 from the Electric Fund to the General Fund and 15,000.00 from 62 Paving Account and $4,000.00 from Gas Account to the 1963 Street Improvement Fund. M. at the City Hall to canvass the returns of the Municipal Run-off Election. Motion carried.
