COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City
Hall, Monday, July 279 1964 at 7:30 P. M. with the following members present:
Mayor Schneider; Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Spader.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Mrs. Rudy Wiggins and Dr. M. D. Jordan requested assistance to send Miss
Amanda Sawyer (Miss American Legion of Alabama) to Dallas for the National
Finals. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that
the City appropriate 300.00 for advertising benefits the City would
receive at the National Finals. Motion carried unanimously.
Twenty-three residents presented a petition for the City to extend water
line approximately ?500 feet from City Limits East on Morphy Avenue. No
action taken at this time.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that Zoning Ord.
#327 introduced at the regular meeting of July 139 1964 be adopted as
introduced.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE THAT:
the City Zoning Ordinance Number 231 be amended by rezoning the property
here and after described from R-1 to M-1 in accordance with recommendation
of the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission on June 59 1964, said
property being described.

Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Gaston that Resolution
introduced at the regular meeting of July 13, 1964 be adopted as intro-
duced.
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE THAT:
because the voters of Fairhope have made their wishes known in the advisory
referendum of July 7, 19649 it is hereby Resolved that the Fairhope Building
Authority authorized at the City Council meeting of January 27, 1964 be
abolished. This action to become effective upon the passage of this Resolu-
tion.
Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting for:
Councilmen Boone, Gaston and Nelson. Voting against: Councilmen Poser and
Spader. Mayor Schneider chose not to vote. Motion carried.
Adoption of Resolution requesting Municipal Aid Funds was held for action
at a later date when right of way has been obtained.
Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Nelson that the following
bills of the Public Building Authority be approved for payment:
Dixie Laboratories, Inc.............$225.00
Joe Schneider & Son, Inc.
Clearing & Raking...............0312.50
Byrd L. Moore & Co.
Engineering .....................$300.00
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Boone that Jack Kirk be
authorized to install lights as requested by the Fairhope Yacht Club. The
Yacht Club to pay $3.00 per month for each light. Motion carried unani-
mously.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that the following
Resolution be adopted.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE that the following
are appointed election officials for the Municipal Election to be held at
the Fairhope Armory in the City of Fairhope, Alabama, on the 11th day of
August, 1964:

Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the following
Resolution be adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE that
a school of instruction for election officials will be held at Fort Biel
Armory on the 3rd day of August, 1964 (between August 1st and August 10th,
1964), for the election held on the 11th day of August, 1964, and the Clerk
is instructed to give the officials 48 hours notice of the time and place
of school for each election official. (Section 10, Act 663).
Motion carried unanimously.
Letter from Ntr. G. C. Hifner was read and taken under advisement.
Request for gas line extension on Highway 31 approved by Council.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion cArried.

In a letter dated June 26, 1964, addressed to the Public
Building Authority of the City of Fairhope, our firm
extended our low bid price of Two Hundred Eighty Four
Thousand Six Hundred Thirty Dollars ($284,630.00) on the
proposed Municipal Auditorium until August 10, 1964. In
subsequent conversations with several of the Fairhope City
Councilmen we are led to believe that the project, per se,
is not a dead issue and all parties concerned are hopeful
of eventually constructing an auditorium, though perhaps
under changed conditions. Our firm hereby extends our
bid price as stated above for an indefinate period of time,
subject, of course, to soil and topographical differences,
and any changes in plans and specifications and significant
changes in labor and material costs.
We are obviously content with
