Home My WebLink About05-25-1964 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, May 25, 1964, with the following members present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Spader. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the minutes of previous regular meeting be corrected by deleting the following motion which was in error. "Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Gaston that Moore Engineering bill on Gas Relocation Project in the amount of $18,089,06 be approved for pay= ment. " Minutes a*3�26ved as corrected. Council authorized sending employees selected by City Superintendent to Water & Sewer School at Auburn on June 8, 9 and 10. Request of Kenneth Horton to build pier on City property was rejected. Votin against: Councilmen Boone, Gaston and Nelson thus creating a fie. The Mayor then cast another vote to break the tie and the motion was carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the City pay difference of loss in pay, if any, while employees are on two weeks of duty with National Guard. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the City purchase two radio transreceivers for fire trucks from General Electric Company at a cost of $1210.00, Motion carried. This being date set for opening bids on Electric Line Construction material, the following bids were received and read to the meeting: Moore -Handley Hardware ...............,5,259•87 Turner Supply Company ................. 5,2944.95 Hatfield & Co., Inc................... 59244.84 Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that the City accept low bid of $59244,84 submitted by Hatfield & Co., Inc. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the following Resolution be adopted: BE IT RESOLVED that the Electric Superintendent be authorized to correct the lighting deficiency and bring the Little League baseball field up to specifications as soon as possible, $800.00 is hereby authorized from the Electric Fund to accomplish this work. -2- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Superintendent accomplish clearing and grading on the Little League baseball field on Morphy Avenue by the use of City force and equipment. Motion carried. Request for Beer Permit at Friends Club was tabled. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
