COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met on Tuesday,
November 26, 1963, as regular meeting scheduled for Monday, November
259 1963 was postponed due to the death of John F. Kennedy, President
of the United States. Notice was given to all members of the City
Council of postponing of regular meeting to meet on 'Tuesday, November
26, 1963 at 7:30 P. VI. at the City Hall.
The Mayor called the meeting to order and upon roll call the following
members were found to be present: T;ayor Schneider, Councilmen Gaston,
Nelson and Spader. Absent: Councilmen Boone and Poser.
The meeting observed a minute of silence in memory of John F. Kennedy,
President of the United States,
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Sppader that the
minutes of previous regular meeting be approved. Mb ion carried.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that the
minutes of Special Meeting of November 18, 19�3 be approved. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the
following Resolution be adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE ALABAMA.,
while assembled in official meeting on November 26, 1963, that this
Council desires to express its deep feeling and regret for the tragic
yj and untimely death of the President of the United states John F.
Kennedy. His death is a great loss to our country and to the world.
It is a disaster of vast proportions and this expression is made in
sorrow and with the hope that all Americans will flow back together in
harmony.
notion carried unanimously.
This being date set for opening bids on Police Car the following bids
were received:
Klumpp Motor Co. "'19370.00
Gaston Motor Co. 1,373.90
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that bids be
evaluated and low bid accepted. Upon being put to vote the following
vote was recorded: For: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen Gaston and Nelson.
Against: None. Councilman Spader not voting. notion carried.
This being date set for opening bids on a one ton truck chassis for
Gas Department the following bids were received:

Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that bids
be evaluated and low bid accepted. Upon being put to vote the following
vote was recorded: For: lia.yor Schneider, Councilmen Nelson and Spader.
Councilman Gaston not voting. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that City
advertise within the City of Fairhope for bids on pick-up truck for
Gas Department as per City Superintendents specifications. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that Gas
Department purchase cuttom built body for one ton truck as presented
at the meeting by Betbeze Co. at a cost of approximately $1,000.00.
Motion carried unanimously.
Lotion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that Business
Administrator have complete set of specifications and estimated cost
of fire truck for next regular meeting of the City Council. Motion
carried.

Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that the
City furnish electricity without cost to the Explorer Scouts Post
172 at the Elks Club building. .lotion carried unanimously.
Letter dated 23rd of November from Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Davis read
and taken under advisement.
Motion by Councilman Nelson_ seconded by Councilman Gaston that the
following Resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS, under the Resolution of September 30, 1969, it was
stated that the City was desirous that an election of the issuance
of bonds for improvements of I'Tunicipal property be held in December
on date state wide elections will be held, and,
WHEREAS, the plans for construction of said building are being
considered but are not sufficiently advanced to warrant holding
election at this time,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT IESOLVED that said election will not be
held on said date but will be delayed until plans are further advanced.
motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson, that the
Mayor and Business Administrator be authorized to contact Architect
now employed by the City concerning possibility of building new City
Hall on land presently in use by City Hall. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Spader that Business
Administrator write Duc'_i: and Yancey statin,,,; that City would furnish
water to their subdivision in accordance with arrangements made with
the City Superintendent. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that the
meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
