HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-26-1963 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, August 26, 1963 at.7:30 P.M. with the following members present: -Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Schermer. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved., Motion by Cbuncilman Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that Ordinance. No.' 312, Billboard Ordinance,♦,introduced at the_,regular meeting of August 12; 1963 be adopted as introduced*- Motion carried.' Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Sohermer that the previous R�solution on condemnation proceedings for City Hall passed at the regular meeting of August 12, 1963 be changed to read as follows: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOBE: That the acquisition of the following described land is in public interest and necessary for public use and that the City acquire either by purchase or condemnation the following described land, to -wit: The South Six (6) feet of Lot One (1), the North Forty-four (44) feet and the South Twenty-two(22)'feet of the West Ninety-eight (98) feet of Lot Two (2), the North Forty-four _(44) feet of the West Eighteen (18) feet of LotEleven (11) and the South Six (6) feet of the West Eighteen (18),feet of Lot Twelve (12), Block Five (5), Division Four (4) of the land of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation, in the Town of Fairhope, Alabama, as per its plat thereof filed for record September 13, 1911, and Executive Council action of October 2, 19%, addinj the West Ten (10) feet of Block Five_.(5), to the Section Street right-of-way, all in Section_.17; Township 6 South, Range 2 East, Baldwin County, Alabama.1 for the purpose of enlarging the City Hall of the City of Fairhope, Alabama. Motion carrie4l Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Poser that typographi- cal errors be corrected in Ordinance #313, Tax Ordinance, introduced at the regular meeting of August 12, 1963 and Ordinance #313 be adopted as corrected.' Motion carried.: Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the Mayor beyinstructed to have Summit Street paved from St. James Street to Morphy Avenue. -Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson and Poser:? Councilman Schermer not voting; Motion carried'; A letter from REsidents in area around .stadium pertaining to parking during football games was read and discussed.:, Written reports from Lacey and Bailey, Attorneys, on -the Rivie$a,. Contract and Daphne Gas Contract were read to the Council: The hiring of an additional policeman was discussed and tabled. A written report from Moore Engineering Co. on progress at the Municipal Airport was read to the Council."
