P.M. with, the following members present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone., Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Schermer. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read Mrs. Carroll presented letter pertaining to the dog dituation.which was read to the C ouncil and accepted. Mr. Zehner requested that the City contribute monthly payments to the Baldwin County Health Department:. Motion by Counc i I man Poser seconded by C ouncilman Nei son that the City contribute $55.00 per month to the Baldwin County Health Department. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting For: Councilmen Poser and Nelson. Voting Against: Councilmen Boone, Gaston and Schermer. Motion diefeated. Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Schermer that the fro[lowing Resolution be adopted. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALA. that the: Baldwin County Commission be requested; to set date for a meeting with the Governing Body of the�City of Fairhope to discuss the Board of Health request for $55,00, per month from the City. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting for:. C ounc i l men: Boone, Gastona and. Schermer. Voting Against: C ounc i I — man Poser, Councilman Nelison not voting. Motion carried. The appI ication, for building permit of Mr. Raymond Howe: on Blue Istand, Avenue was held for futher. study. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that the City contribute $224.07 to the Volunteer Fire Department. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that Herbert and Maggie Williams be granted permit to retail beer on Young Street provided they meet the Baldwin County Health Department requirements on sanitation. Motion carried. The application for Beer Permit of Phillip Mitchell on Greeno Blvd. was held for the- next regular meeting of the City Council. Mr. Byrne:, Business Administrator, Councilmen Poser andiSchermer were appointed as a committeeto study Ordinance on sewer permits and connect- ions. A request forremova•I. of corner of the Fairhope Cemetery to give better visibility at Oak Street exit from Delchamps was referred to the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. The resignation of Mr. Baker. Brownell and Mr. Clayton Baldwin as members of the Fairhope. Board of Zoning, Adjustment was accepted with reluctance. Mr. Brownell and Mr. Baldwin have been membersof this board from its inception in 1954 and have done an excellent job during those years. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by councilman Boone that Mr. R. C. Macon. Mr. Bob W,i,tder and Mr. Fred Smith be reappointed and Mr. Sam Lester and Mr. Clarence McCoy be appointed to the Board of Adjustment for a periodof three years effective September 12, 1,961. Motion carried. Mayor Schneider appointed Councilman Nelson to serve on the Planning Board for a period of one year. rJ Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the City .remove tree on City property on Wisteria Street and on Oswalt Street. Motion carried. A request from the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Downtown Teen -Age March on Saturday, November 18, 1961 was approved. The Council disapproved the request for Road Block on Sunday, November 19, 1961 due: to the fact that it creates a traffic hazard. A proposal was submitted by May Machinery Company on a Street Sweeper, The Council indicated their desire for bids to be submitted on this item.
