City Ha11,, Monday, August 28, 1961 at 7:30 P.M. w.ith,the following members
present: Mayor -Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Gaston,,.Nelson and Schermer.
C ounc i 1 man Poser being absent.
The minutes of the previousmeetings of August 1.4 and August 21, 196:1
were read and approvedi as read.
Mr. Akrridge presented petition concerning dogs. Petition turned over to the
Police Department.
John Henry met with the Council pertaining to the fishing industry in the
harbor. at- F I y Creek. Taken under advisement.
In reply to published Advertisement for bids on hauling_diri` for base for
the: one mile of free paving from the State, the following bids were received:
McAu I ey Truck i ng C o., Mob i 1 e .58 per cu. yd.
floe Schneider & Son, I'nc.- .45 per cu. yd.
Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by Counc i I man Gaston that the City a
accept low bid of .45Q, cu. yd. submitted by Joe Schneider & Sort*, Inc.
Motion carried.
A request for opening South Img I.es i de: Avenue was presented and he I d for
further study.
Application of Herbertand Maggie Williams for retail beer permit on Young
Street was held for further study,
Motion by Counc.ilman Schermer seconded by Councibman,Nelson that the following
Resolution be adopted:. Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA
that the City approves of the -four lane Highway from Span i sh Fort to the
City of Fa i rhope and urges the completion of same.. ,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable John Patterson,, Governor of this State, and to the Honorable
San Engelhardt,, Director of AIabam& Highway Department.
Motion by C ounc i I man Boone seconded by Councilman Gaston that honing Ordinance #280.
introduced at the regular meeting of August 14- 1961 be adopted as introduced.
Upon being put to vote the following vote was recordedr Voting For:. C ounc i a—
men Boone, Gaston and Nelson, Voting Against: None, Councilman Schermer not
voting. The Mayor thereupon declared the Ordinance duly adopted.
The subject of cutting City Streets for sewer access was brought up for
discussion and: held for further study.
