HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-13-1949 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular session at the Town Hall, Monday June 13, 1949 with the following merbers present: Mayor, T.J.Klumpp, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: R.H.Brown, M.O. Berglin and E. B. Overton. Councilman Bradford and Councilman Steele being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following bills be allowed. Brown. WHEREAS THE FAIRHOPE SIPxGLE TAX CORPORATION has proposed to the Town that it will pay the cost of constr.c ting sidewalks and other street improvements on and along those streets and avenues listed in Exhibit A hereto attached, it owning the property adjacent thereto, that the Town advertise for bidders and let contracts therefor in accordance with to plans and specifications listed in Exhibit A hereto attached; and WHEREAS under such proposal the Mayor has advertised for bids for the construction of such sidewalks and other street improvements BE IT RESOLVED BY_:THE T04�'N COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FAIRHOPE: FIRST: That the Town proceed to construct such sidewalks and other street improvements according to'such plans and specifications along such streets and avenues and portions thereof and that the Fairhope Single Tax Corp- oration pay the cost thereof'to the Town; SECOND: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the action of the Mayor in accepting the proposal of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation and in advertising for bids for the construction of the same is hereby ratified and confirmed; THIRD: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mayor receive such proposed bids and award con- tracts to the lowest and best bidder for the construction of such sidewalks and other street improvements provided such bids and the bidder are acceptable to the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. The following Ordinance was introduced by Councilman Overton it being read in full the same being as follows: ORDINANCE �, ` v BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA AS FOLLOWS: 1. That it is'unlawful to discharge fireworks on the streets, highways, parks and public places in the Municipal limits of the Town without a permit from the Mayor. 2. It is unlawful to sell fireworks in the Town Parks. 3. Any violation of this Ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of not more than fifty dollars. This Ordinance shall go into effect on the 20th day of June 1949• It was moved by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Overton that all rules and regulations of the statutes of the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope which might prevent, unless suspended, the immediate condideration and final passage and adoption of said Ordinance at this meeting. The question being put upon the adoption of said motion and the suspension of the said rules and regulations, the roll was called with the following results; Voting Aye, Mayor T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen M.O. Berglin, R.H. Brown and E. B. Overton. Voting Nay, None. Councilman J. T. Bradford and Councilman I.N. Steele being absent. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Councilman Berglin therefor moved that the said Ordinance be finally passed and "adopted as introduced. Councilman Brown seconded the motion. The question being put upon the final passage and adoption of the said Ordinance the roll was called with the following results: Voting Aye, Mayor T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, R.H. Brown and E. B. Overton. Voting Nay, None. Councilman J. T. Bradford and Councilman Ira Steele being absent. Thereupon the Mayor declared sAid motion carried arfd the Ordinance finally passed and adopted and signed said Ordinance in approval of the same. Approved Mayor At4est: Clerk Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman that the Town take an Ad in the Alabama Legionnaire. Motion carried. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Approved Attest Clerk Mayor
