HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-28-1949 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular session Monday, February 28, 1949 with the following members present: Mayor, T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, J. T. Bradford, C. B. Niemeyer and Ira N. Steele. Councilman Overton being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Motion by Councilman Niemeyer seconded by Councilman Berglin that the charge for sprinkler systems shall be as follows: Five cents ( $) per head payable yearly in advance. Number of heads connected to be checked by the Water Department on December 1st of each -year. The owner of the premises shall pay the total cost to the Town for connecting with the Town Water Mains. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bradford seconded by Councilman Niemeyer that all connections with the -Town Electric System or with its Water or Sewerage System shall be made by the Town. The costs thereof, including labor and material, shall be paid by the property owner or person for whom such connection is made, with a minimum of $5.00, such costs to be paid before service is connect- ed. Motion carried. The following Ordinance was introduced by Councilman Niemeyer it being read in full the same being as follows: Ordinance # l-� 189 It was moved by Councilman Berglin and seconded by Councilman Steele that all rules and regulations of the Statutes of the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope which might prevent, unless suspended, the immediate consideration and final passage and adoption of said ordinance at this meeting. The question being put upon the adoption of said motion and the suspension of'the said rules and regulat- ions, the roll was called with the following results: Voting Aye; Mayor Klumpp, Councilmen Berglin, Bradford, Niemeyer and Steele. Voting Nay None. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Councilman Steele therefore moved that the said Ordinance be finally passed and be adopted as introduced. Councilman Bradford seconded the motion. The question being put upon the final passage and adoption of the said Ordinance,the roll.was called with the following results: Voting Aye: Mayor Klumpp, Councilfen Berglin, Bradford, Niemeyer and Steele. Voting Nay; none. Thereupon, the Mayor declared said motion carried and the Ordinance finally passed and adopted. The Mayor thereupon signed said Ordinance in approval of the same. (The Foregoing Ordinance posted at the City Hall, Fairhope Post Office and Bank of Fairhope.) 1 Section 3. Any person violating this Ordinance shall be fined not less than One Dollar ($1.00) or more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or may be sentenced to hard labor of the Town of Fairhope not exceeding six (6) months, one or both. Section 4. This ordinance shall go into effect on, and be operative on and after the 14th day of February, 1949. Duly adopted by the Town of Fairhope at a meeting thereof regularly held on the 14th day of February, 1949. Said ordinance having been read in full by the Clerk, Councilman C. B. Niemeyer moved that all rules, regula- tions and statutes preventing the final consideration and adoption of the same at this meeting be suspended, such motion having been seconded by Councilman Bradford was put upon its passage and was unanimously adopted, voting for the same, Mayor T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen: J.T.Bradford, C.B.Niemeyer, E. B. Overton and Ira Steele, M.O. Berglin being absent. Voting against, None; whereupon the Mayor -declared the motionadopted and the rules suspended. Thereupon Councilman Overton moved the final adoption of the ordinance which motion being second- ed by Councilman Bradford was put upon its passage and was unanimously adopted, voting for the same, Mayor T.J.Klumpp, Councilmen: J.T.Bradford, C. B. Niemeyer, E. B.Overton and Ira Steele, Councilman Berglin being absent. Voting against, None; thereupon the Mayor declared the ordinance duly adopted and signed the same in approval thereof. Motion by Councilman Niemeyer seconded by Councilman Bradford that Wm. Bagby be employed to paint the Red Cross Building as per specifications on file. Motion carried. Motion'by.:Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Niemeyer that the Chief of Police attend the Governor's Highway Safety Conference to be held in Montgomery on February 23 and 24th, 1949.
