HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-27-1947 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular session at the Town Hall Tuesday, May 27, 1947 with the following members present: Mayor: Howard Ruge, Councilmen: J. H. Bennett, C. A. Gaston, H.P.Kamper, W.O.Keeble and J.O: Stimpson. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Motion by Councilman J.O. Stimpson seconded by Council- man H.P. Kamper that the application of Baldwin -Niemeyer for permit to remodel canopy at Western Aujso Store be allowed. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman C. A. Gaston seconded by Council- man W.O. Keeble that the application of Arthur Stenzel for building permit on L'ot 5 & 6, Block 61 Division 4 be allowed. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman C. A. Gaston seconded by Council- man J.H. Bennett thatlthe Electric Fund buy a General Fund Warrant for $101000." Motion Carried. i On motion of Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman J. 0. Stimpson an(; unanimously adopted, the Mayor was authorized and directed to execute and deliver to C. W. Shoop a proper'easement to construct and main- tain a proper sewerage field for his hotel at Volanta in whole or in part on Town Park property adjacent to his hotel property. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Approved: Mayor Att - lerk P Motion by Councilamn Stimpson seconded by Councilman Bennett to approve an agreement with W. P. Clemens to pay him $200,00 to move his house from his lease- hold in the ball park to the north side of Morphy and that the Town change the utility connection and Septic Tank. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Kamper that the Electric} Department purchase from the Water & Sewer Department Warrant for $5,000 at 2% per annum for the purpose of extending 6" water main and fire hydrants. Stimpson that>the application of Charles Hipsh for building permit on corner Fels and Mobile Avenue be allowed subject to inspection. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman-C. A. Gaston seconded by Councilman J.H. Bennett that the following be adopted as Standard Specifications for -concrete sidewalks and driveways in the Town of Fairhope. Motion carried. SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONCRETE SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS FOR TOWN OF FAIRHOPE Width of walk shall be 4 feet and thicknes shall be 4 inches, to be of good, well mixed concrete, composed'of one part cement, two and one half parts sand and four parts gravel, float- -ed smooth, with base well tamped. Cement shall be Portland cement, domestic or foreign, and of fresh stock. Sand shall be washed and free from clay and of a graduation equal to "Flomaton Concrete Sand". Gravel shall be washed concrete gravel. There shall be an expansion joint of 3/4 asphalt composition, or poured asphalt, every twenty feet, and a trowel cut every five feet, finished with a joiner. Edges shall be finished with edger. At driveways, a six inch thickness of concrete of the above quality shall be installed eight feet on each side of the center line of the driveway or sixteen feet each side of a center line of a double driveway. Reinforcing mat or its equivalent to be used at all driveways, as provided in the dis- tances enumerated in this paragraph. All aprons, curbs or other accessories to be approved by the Town. Adequate barricades, with satisfactory light- ing at night, -to be provided at all times by the Contractor. Work to be laid out and grades estab- lished subject to the approval of the Town of Fairhope. Sidewalks shall start eighteen inches from the property line, to be established by survey, at contractor's expense, if not definitely established by previous survey. Good workmanship will be re- quired at all times. Unless otherwise agreed upon, sidewalk grades will conform to the height of the crown of street surfacing in front of the proposed s$ improvement. The sidewalk shall slope toward the street so that a fall exists of one inch to the four feet width. (One inch lower on the street side.) Motion by Councilman J.O. Stimpson seconded by Councilman W.O.Keeble that the application of Lucille Lloyd to construct sidewalk and driveway be allowed subject to adopted specifications. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman C.A. Gaston seconded by Councilman J.O. Stimpson that the application of Raymond Dyson to construct wharf on his property notth of the 0. Forster property "..on Mobile Avenue as approved by the War Department be allowed. Motion carried.
