HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-27-1941 Regular MeetingSTATE` OF AZABAILA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular session at the Town Hall, Monday, October 27, 1941 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Howard Ruge, Mayor, Councilmen 14.0. Berglin, Sam Dyson, C.A. Gaston, H.P. Kamper and J.O. Stimpson, the same constituting the full membership of the Town Council. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved as read. It was moved by Councilman Dyson and seconded by Councilman Gaston that application of 'Eugene, Bosby for building permit be approved as per plans on file. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Gaston and seconded by Councilman Stimp- son that Wm. Whittacker's application for erection of business sign on Section Street in front of his premises be approved. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Kamper and seconded by Councilman Gaston that usual monthly appropriation of $35.00 be made to the mainten- ance of the Tourist Club for present season. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Kamper and Seconded by Councilman Gaston that Smith,. Dukes & Buckalew be employed to make annual audit of Town books. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Gaston and seconded by Councilman hamper that the jayor be and is authorized to issue a note or notes for the purposes of raising necessary money to pay the cost of construct- tion of street improvements authorized by street improvement ordin- ance No. 155 adopted ' -on the 28th day of July, 1941, such note to be issued under section of code of 19 41, and that such note or note's be sold to and purchasdd by the electric light fund of the town said notes to bear interest at 4j per annum and to be due on demand and to be paid upon the completion of such improvement and out of funds provided from the payment of the assessments levied by said ordinance or out of the monies accrueing by the permanent financ- ing of such improvements as provided by law. Resolution aas appr- oved by Councilman Stimpson and seconded by Councilman Kamper. It was moved by Councilman Stimpson and seconded by Councilman Kamper that on the recommendation of the committee on salaries, the salaries of the several town employees listed below -be fixed at the figure set opposite their respective names commencing with the salaries to be paid Nov. 109 1941 vbzr. It was moved by Councilman Gaston and seconded by Councilman Berglin that Chief of Police attend F.B.I. Reginal meeting in Birmingham in November.. Motion carried. On notion of Gouncilman C.A.Gaston and seconded by Council- man H.P. Kamper the following resolution was unanimously' adopted: WHEREAS, the assessment of and on all property and sub- jects of taxation liable for taxes in the Town of Fairhope for the year 1941, having been made by fir. R.C. Yohn, the person designated by the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope, Alabama, to assess such taxes, and having been returned to the Council, all in accordance with the lawa of the State of Alabama and of the Town of Fairhope; THEREFORE, BF, IT RESOLVED, That the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope will sit between the hours of 7:30 otc•lock P.M. and 9:30 otclock P.M. on the/6-de day* of November, 1941 in the office of the Mayor. of the Town of Fairhope,. to hear and determine any and all objections to'such assessment of town taxes. BE -IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the Town of Fairhope and the Clerk of the Town of Fairhope be and they are hereby directed to cause notice of such assessment of taxes and of the time and place for hearing and determining object- ions•thereto to be given by publication in the Fairhope Courier in its issued of November 6th and November 3th, 1941, Approved Attest:
