COUNTY OF BALDWIN ,
The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular
session 11onday, August 8,,1938 at 7:30 P. M. with the
following members present, to -wit, Howard Ruge, Mayor,
11T. 0. Berglin,'Sam Dyson, C. A. Gaston H. P. Kamper, and
J. 0. Stimpson, Councilman, the same constituting the
full membership of the Town Countil.
The minutes of the regular -meeting of July 2.5th were approved
as read.

It was moved by Councilman C. A. Gaston and seconded by
Councilman M. 0. Berglin that the following amendment be
made to the present electric rates;
AVAILABILITY ( Residential)
These rates are applicable for the Lighting, Refrigeration,.
Cooking, Heating and other domestic uses in residences and
individual apartments served by single meters, where such
residences or apartments are not used in whole or in part
for gainful purposes or'enterprises other than the rental of
not more than two rooms.
AVAILABILITY ( Conrlercial)
This rate is'applicable to the furnishing of electric energy
for lighting, single and three plase power for any purpose or
activity or other uses operated. for gain or profit or other
than residential reasons, and shall specifically include the
following where such are served through single meters, family
hotels, apartment hotels; group cottages, tourist camps and -
rooming houses with three or more rooms regularily available.
Regular residential rates will be made available to resident
owners of rooming houses or family hotels providing their
living quarters and the rented rooms are each seperately metered
in which case the iridividual-meters shall'be classified under
regular rates applying to the type of service, and requiring
individual deposits and individual minimum monthly charges.
Motion G'arried.
It was moved by QQ}ncilman Sam Dyson and seconded by Councilman
Jesse Stimpson that the following recommendations of the Mayor
by adopted, effective September Ist.
That the number of electric department employees be reduced by
one, which will leave 4 engineers to d#vide 168 working hours
each week and an outside man, Mr Bailey, to stand temporary
watch when and if an occasion arises for any one of the engineers
to be called out for inspection of lines and equipment.
That the salary of the Chief Electrician be reduced to 125.00

and that he stand watch such hours each week as is necessary
for successful operation of the plant with the reduced force,
such schedule or changes of schedule to be approved by the
Plant Chairman and Mayor.
That no substantial changes be conducted without the approval of
the Mayor and Plant Chairman and that purchases be made through
the office, this proceedure causing little loss of time.
That all employees adhere strictly to rules.concerning service
installations, changes in items not covered in the ordinance
to be approved by the Chairman and the Mayor, but under no
circumstances are any rules to be waived or policies to be
determined other than by duly elected officers of the town.
That no extra help'be hired without approval of the Mayor and
Chairman and that repairs of any consequence including changes
or additions in the present setup or equipment or relocation of
samebear approval of such officers also.
That reports of equipment condition with the recommendations fmr
corrections or repait.be submitted to the Council at least once
a month, if need arises for such repairs, or the Plant Chair -
man and Mayor in the case of an emergency.
That an additional five percent from the present billing be
allowed on all light bills. ✓
Motion carried, Councilman C. A. Gaston voting No.
Motion was made and duly seconded that the meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
