Berglin, C. A. Gaston, W. 0. Keeble, T. J. Klumpp and J. 0. Stimpson, Councilmen, Zae The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. An odd.inance calling an election to authorize a special tax of five mills for street lights, fi.re equipment and improvement and maintenance of Municipal Property in the Town of Fairhope was intro- duced; this tax being a continuation of the tax authorized by electim in 1930. r C. A. Gaston made a motion seconded by M. 0. Berglin that the unanimous consent of those present be given for the immediate con- sideration pf this ordinance. Upon roll call the vote was, AYBS; Howard Ruge, Mayor; M. 0. Berglin, C. A. Gaston, W. 0. Keeble, T. Z. Klumpp and J. 0. Stimpson. NOES; None. The ordinance was then read at length as follows: BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of ba.irhope, xlib. bama, as follows: That at an election!.to be held on the 29th day of July, 1935, the following proposition shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the Town of Fairhope; "That a special tax of five mills shall be levied on all property subject to taxation in the Town of Fairhope for the years 1935 to 1939 inclusive. 5o much thereof to be used, as may be necessary, to cover the cost of maintaining street lights and fire fighting equipment in the Town of Fairhope and the balance to be used for improvement and main- tenance of Municipal l'roperty.w BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that said election shall be held in the Town ball of the Town of .Fairhope between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M and 5:00 o'clock P. M., and that notice of the time and place of said election shall be given as required by law. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the following be appointed to conduct) said election; George W. Clifton, Returning Officer; C. M. Brady and A. H. Mershon, Clerks; C. L. Basey, John Hodge and Nelson Rockwell, Inspectors. e 4. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Town Clerk shall prepare and furnish to the election offioers a ballot substantially in words and figures as follows: "ELECTION TO -AUTHORIZE A SPECIAL TAX OF FIVE MIMLS FOR STREET LIGHTS, FIRE FIGHTING EgUIPMENT AND IMPSOVEYENT AND MAINTENANCE OF MUNICIPAL, PROPERTY IN THE TOWN OF FAIRHOPE." That a special tax of five mills shall be Levied on all property sub- ject to taxation in the Town of Fiarhope, Alabama for the years 1935 to 1939 inclusive. 5o much thereof to be used, as may be necessary,,to cover the cost of maintaining street lights and fire fighting equip- ment and the balance to be used for improvements and maintenance of Munic�pal Property in the Town of Fai.rhope. 10rR AGAINST That said election shall be in all respects conducted in accord- ance with the law governing Municipal Elections in the Sjtate of Ala- bama.. Adopted, June 24,, 1-9,35 Mayor ATTEST: Cle . C. A. Gaston moved the adoption of the ordinance as read. Motion was seconded by T. J.Ylumpy. Upon roll call the vote was, AYES; Howard Kuge, Mayor; M. 0. Berglin, C. A. Gaston, W: 0-. Keeble, T. J. Slumpp and J. 0. Stimpson. NOES ; None. After hearing the vote the Mayor declared the ordinance adopted and ordered published. Ab tion was made by M. 0. Berglin seconded by W. 0. 8eeble that the Town accept the offer of the members of the Labor IIouncil,. to work two days in the parks, donating one days' work. Motion carried.
