HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-27-1935 Regular MeetingSTA73 OF ALABAMA BALDwIN COUNTY The Council of the Town of Fairhope met in regular session Monday, May 27, 1935; the following members being present; Howard xuge, Mayor; M. U. Berglin, C A. Gaston,W. 0. Keeble, T. J. Klumpp and J. u. Stimpson , Couneilmen. Minutes of theAegular meeting May 13th and adjourned meet- ing May 179 1935 were aprroved as read. Motion was made by Co A* Gaston seconded by J. u. Stimpson that the offer of the 14'airhope Labor Council to install drinking fountain on Fairhope be received with thanks and their representa- tive be asked to go futther into the matter and submit plans and estimated cost at the next regular meeting, motion carried. It was moved by M :;U.iberglin and seconded by J 0. Stimpson that Joe Galler be rented space for Merry -Go -Around and Ferris wheel for the week of July 4th. Notion carried. Motion was made by C. A. Gaston that the Mayor resubmit to the State Engineer of Public works Administration the Public Improve ment program previously submtted. Motion carried. The following motion was made by C. A. Gaston seconded by T. J. tslumpp and unanimously carried; that the Engineers be instruct ed to request H. S. Geismer, State Engineer of Public Works Adminis tration, for permission to enter into an agreement with Langston- Mupphy Construction Co., Contractors on raving Project .No. 51629 to remove 3,000 cubic yards of exc®ss clay and unusable eartit from the streets at 45,e per cubic yard and to install approximately 256 feet of 18 inch pipe, double strength or concrete, at 41.90 per foot and 450 feet of 150 pipe at $1.50 per foot. This work being made necessary due to changes to the character of the streets by the installation of the sewer and water systems and the funds are available in the allotment funds. Motion by J. u. Stimpson seconded by M. 0. iserglin that the Town advertise for bids on new and seconde hand truck chasis, bids to be received June 4th at 10t30 A. M. ; carried. A committee from the Fairhope Labor Council was present ... ��8 and requested that the Town in letting contracts stipulate that local men be hired and further that the Town pay 30,eper hour for labor. Motion made by J .A,, .Stimpson and seconded by T. J. YLIumpp that the Town raise the labor wage scale to 30j per hour( except that.. 80 % pf the minimum may be paid to persons below normal efficiency due to minor age, physical or other disability); carried.
